Which countries in the world can see the Northern Lights?
Iceland, China, Russia, Canada and the United States, some people say that you can be happy for life as long as you see the aurora once. The aurora burst that we have experienced for several nights in a row is destined to bring us happiness for several lifetimes. Fairbanks is the second largest city in Alaska, USA, and the main city closest to the Arctic Circle in North America. Geographical location determines that the winter in fairbanks is cold and long, and the summer is warm and short. However, tourists flock to fairbanks from September to March every year, not only to feel the cold polar scenery, but also to chase the gorgeous aurora in the sky every night. This town, where you can see the aurora for more than 200 days in a year, is affectionately called the "Northern Lights Capital". God's children are dancing. It takes a whole day to go from Anchorage to fairbanks Railway Station by train. It was already past 8 pm when they arrived. Although the city lights are very bright, there is a faint green light in the sky. The companion said, it must be the aurora! But I am skeptical after all. In order to ensure that we can meet the aurora, we reserved three whole nights in this town, only expecting to meet it once. Driving from the train station to Chandler Farm, which is 23km away from the center of fairbanks, is an excellent place to watch the aurora because of its remote location and no light pollution at all. When we arrived at Chandler's farm on 10 in the afternoon, the sky had been painted dreamy green. Before signing in, I grabbed my camera and tripod and ran into the endless snow. The snow is so soft that it falls in half at every step. Don't move, stand in the snow and look up at the sky. The green light looming from the northern sky sometimes flies in the air like a ribbon, sometimes covers the whole night sky like a tulle, and sometimes falls to the ground like a colorful screen. Green is lonely, and occasionally purple, red and fluorescent yellow are used to make the night sky more brilliant and full of fantasy colors. "Are you residents here?" I don't know when the owner of Chandler's farm is on my side. Being ruthlessly pulled back to reality, I replied perfunctorily: "Yes, I haven't had time to check in yet." Eyes unwilling to leave the sky. Aurora is unpredictable and sometimes it is not. At this point, the color that just broke out has been hidden, leaving only a faint trace of green on the horizon. Ask the owner of the farm if he can see a better aurora tonight. The host told us: "The best aurora often happens when you just fall asleep." Thinking that the farm owner was teasing us, I smiled and didn't answer. Unexpectedly, on the same night, an aurora broke out, and only persistent talents who waited all night met. Since then, we have learned our lesson. In order not to miss anything wonderful, we decided to stay up late and watch the stars. The next day, we checked into the Aurora Mountain Hotel, 20 kilometers north of fairbanks. Take a rest immediately after eating, set the alarm clock at 1 1 at night, and the first thing to do when you get up is to go outside and look for the light in the sky. If the aurora is not obvious, check it every 10 minutes in turn until there are signs of explosion and rush out of the room with a tripod. From a scientific point of view, aurora is the light produced by the collision of high-speed charged particles (solar wind) irregularly ejected by the sun with atoms in the high-latitude atmosphere. But I don't want to delve into science, so I just regard this kind of light and shadow as a miracle. Before the aurora breaks out, the stars are always particularly dazzling, as if to start with flashing light, announcing that a wonderful performance is about to begin. Then, God gently daubed a faint green color on the starry canvas. Wonderful colors are fascinating, and you can't take your eyes off them. When the green is thick, it is light, when the light is light, the dream is like a silk screen, and when the light is thick, it shines like a pearl in the sky. Green dances the sky, changing its posture to attract the audience's attention, sometimes hiding its figure and leaving a faint slender tail, and sometimes covering the whole northern sky. At this time, photographers are the busiest. They are constantly looking for angles and recording the most beautiful moments. Others just watch quietly and feel the wonder of nature with their hearts. Besides watching the aurora at night, you can also ride a dog sled in fairbanks in winter to experience the thrill of running in the snow. Dog sledding is the most traditional mode of transportation in Alaska. In order to maintain the traditional dog sled culture and Alaskan husky breeds, from 1973, every March, Alaska will hold the Aditarod sled dog race, with the whole journey of 1790 km, starting from Anchorage and ending at Nome. After searching all morning, we came to a farmer's home in fairbanks to experience this project. As soon as I got to the backyard, I saw 10 Alaskan huskies connected to the sled with ropes and ready to go. The clever huskies jumped up and down with excitement when they saw us coming and knew that they were going to play in the snow soon. When we approached, they jumped on us in a friendly way and were as hospitable as Alaskans. Two people sit on a simple wooden sleigh, and the male owner stands on the platform behind the sleigh to control the direction. With a low but loud command from the host, 10 sled dogs set off at the same time and galloped along the snowy road. Although the Alaskan Malamute is small, it is full of strength. 10 sled dogs can draw 540 kg closer, and the speed can reach 30 km/h, and the whistling cold air sweeps your cheeks, so you can better understand the sense of speed at this time. On the way to Mercedes-Benz, the host also taught us how to give orders. "Stop", "Forward", "Left Turn" and "Right Turn", even if they are called out from our mouths, Husky is very cooperative, which shows his cleverness. This circular runway is 5 kilometers long, sometimes through the endless snowfields, and sometimes through the low pine forests. Huskies are used to running this road. Whether it is uphill, sharp bend or narrow forest path, they will not slow down. We were so nervous that we hid our whole bodies in the sleigh and screamed from time to time. We are thrown into the air when we are bumpy, and we are thrown aside when we are in a hurry. The outside of the sled occasionally touches the snow on the side of the road, resulting in a certain inclination angle and a serious sense of bumps. Alaskan huskies brought us an unforgettable exciting experience with the enthusiasm of 15 minutes. Santa Claus Village, Fairy Tales Come True There is also a children's paradise in fairbanks. The North Pole, located 25 kilometers south, is the home of Santa Claus. During Christmas every year, children send countless letters to Santa Claus, and many parents send blessings and gifts to their children from Santa's home. There are only 2,000 households in Arctic Village, and there are only a few main streets, the most famous of which is Santa Claus Lane, a street named after Santa Claus. In winter, the whole town is covered in silver. Occasionally, red and white fire hydrants can be seen between fluffy white snow, and even street lamps are made into the shape of red and white candy bars. Walking in it is like being in a fairy tale world. The Arctic Village seems to be a Christmas theme park. Christmas-related decorations can be seen everywhere, and a strong Christmas atmosphere can be felt everywhere. If you come to this town on Christmas Eve, it will be very lively and interesting. Moving to the farm side of Arctic Village, several lovely reindeer are hairless, but they are not afraid of the cold of snow and ice. They walk in the fence for food and pose to tourists as the owners of the Arctic village. Young reindeer are the most curious. Whenever a tourist approaches, they will rush to the fence and put their mouths in front of the tourists, as if they can get the most delicious food in the world. Although these reindeer are lazy, they can run at a speed of 48 kilometers per hour. Even newborn reindeer can reach the running speed of adult reindeer after birth 10. No wonder Santa Claus chose them as mounts. At the entrance of the Arctic Village stands the world's largest fiberglass Santa Claus sculpture, welcoming believers from all over the world with open arms. A huge fairy tale house next to the sculpture still uses red and white tones, and the color pictures on the wall show the interactive entertainment between Santa Claus and the children. The interior of the fairy tale house is even more dazzling. Tens of thousands of products and entertainment projects are related to Christmas, and the festive atmosphere is extremely strong. This fairy tale house carries the dreams and wishes of American children. "Ho ~ ho ~" A quiet-looking, potbellied Santa Claus sat in the middle of the fairy tale house and took photos with the children. I also jumped into the arms of the fairy tale old man like a child and ended this fairy tale dream trip with a big hug. Techniques for shooting aurora 1. A tripod with stable equipment and a camera with wide-angle lens. In addition, cable release is also a very convenient tool. Without cable release, you can set the camera to two-second self-timer mode. This can prevent the camera shake from affecting the imaging quality when the shutter is pressed. 2. Preparation before shooting After installing the camera on a tripod, focus. In the dark, use manual focusing, set the focal length to infinity or a little later (the focal length setting of infinity varies according to different lenses), try to take a photo and check the imaging. You can also automatically focus on distant bright objects first, and then switch to manual focusing mode after successful focusing. 3. Parameter Settings According to the intensity of the aurora, the shooting parameters are slightly different. The aperture is adjusted to the maximum, and the shutter speed is generally controlled at 10 second to 20 seconds. The combination of sensitivity and shutter speed should be used flexibly according to the strength of aurora. In addition, turning off the noise reduction mode can greatly reduce the time source for the camera to process images: China New Era.
