In the last issue, Zikuo Qingqing shared how to take beautiful breakfast photos - tablecloth matching skills. In this issue, she will share the plate placement skills again.

The plating that I commonly use can be divided into the following three categories:

1. Fruit plating

2. Flower and plant plating

3. Snack and dessert plating

What are the different effects of various types of plating in the process of photographing food, and what are the matching techniques for each? The next few issues Let me explain it to you in detail.

Fruit plating is one of my most commonly used platings. Its biggest feature is that it is colorful and diverse, and can be freely matched with food; it has different shapes and can be made into a variety of shapes; and its fresh texture can bring a great visual experience, thereby increasing appetite. When using fruits as a plate, you can consider the following matching techniques:

1 A variety of fruit combinations

A combination of multiple fruits will have the feeling of a fruit plate, and its characteristics That is, the colors are more diverse and can enrich the color of the entire picture.

It should be noted that when making fruit combinations, you must choose to cut out fruits of similar shapes and put them together to achieve the overall effect. For example, kiwi fruit cut into wedges and apples cut into wedges can be placed together, but they do not match with granular grapes.

2 Larger fruits need to be cut

It is best to cut larger fruits to be effective, such as figs, apples, pears, oranges, etc. After all, fruit serves as a foil to set off the staple food. If it is not cut, the size of the entire picture will be unbalanced and it will become a still life photography with fruit as the theme.

3. Use a glass to serve granular fruits.

Do not break bunches of fruits like grapes into pieces. It is best to put the whole bunch in a glass, which is transparent. The cup body can better display the beauty of the ingredients. And the effect of the grapes popping out of the rim of the cup also has a unique flavor.

4. Match the color of fruits with the color of food utensils

As shown in the picture above, I used a big red porridge cup for the oatmeal, and I chose big red cherry tomatoes for the fruit. The two placed diagonally can complement each other and make the colors of the entire picture more coordinated and unified.

5 Fruit colors complement the color of staple food

As shown above, the overall color of the staple food burger is yellow, orange, green and red, which are relatively insufficient. Therefore, to make the color of the entire picture more diverse, just Consider supplementing with fruit platters. So I chose green kiwi and red apple.

Once the two colors of fruits are added, the whole picture becomes much brighter and more appetizing.

6. Unify the color of fruits and staple foods

The opposite of the complementary method above is the unification method. This method is to choose fruits that are similar in color to the staple food to achieve a sense of unity in the overall picture.

As shown in the picture above, the color of the steamed bun slices is golden yellow, so I chose pineapple, which is also golden yellow. The whole picture gives people the feeling of golden yellow as the main color, and the theme is clear.
