How to reuse yourself?

2001September 1 1 day, a 70-year-old man was in an apartment on the northeast side of Manhattan when the first plane piloted by terrorists hit the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York. By the time the second plane hit the World Trade Center, he had picked up photographic equipment and rushed to the scene where the smoke was filled and the crowd was scattered. This old man who always runs in the opposite direction and witnesses history with his lens is the famous British photographer Harry Benson.

Mr Benson was a troublemaker when he was a student. He claimed that his specialty was truancy and history, and the headmaster even begged his parents to take him home from school. Since he ended his career as a chef in the Royal Air Force and became fascinated with photography, he really found his place and the value of life. As a result, Benson became a person who paid attention to and witnessed history with his life. For decades, he has been looking for the eye of the storm. In order to take wonderful photos, he deliberately ingratiated himself with notorious people, became brothers with the murderer, and pretended to be a supporter of the Klan. He infiltrated Muslim guerrillas and photographed Russian prisoners of war and victims with terrible wounds; In the Chicago riots in the 1960s, someone put a loaded gun in his mouth ... Every time these experiences were important events in life, he always ignored them and practiced the news creed of "Nothing ventured, nothing gained" with his own life.

At the same time, with his extraordinary news sensitivity, Mr. Benson used his own camera to freeze many important historical events into eternity-he photographed a Vietnamese veteran in a wheelchair shaking hands with an American soldier whose legs were amputated in Hanoi: he recorded the bitter and helpless scene when President Nixon was forced to resign and face his family; He let President Reagan and his wife kiss in Vanity Fair magazine: even when President Kennedy was assassinated, he "caught up" with him. He prayed with a camera: God, don't let me screw up, this is the witness of history ... When shooting these historical moments, Benson always told himself: You can only succeed, you can't fail, because you only have one chance.

I have read Mr. Benson's biography many times, and I am deeply shocked by his legendary experience, passion and fighting spirit. In fact, this photographer, who has achieved many achievements that his peers can't reach, was not wiser than ordinary people when he was young, and the conditions for success were not superior to ordinary people. However, when he decided to spend his life with a camera and record history with a lens, he devoted his life to photography!

Life perception: What we have to learn in life is often that we need to reuse ourselves and explore ourselves. Just like Mr. Benson, although there are many rapids and eddies on the road to success, he still dares to pursue enthusiastically, constantly create, give full play to his strengths and do what he should do, which is the most capable and promising.
