How about a 35mm standard fixed focus lens?
A few friends and I were shooting in the red land of Dongchuan, Yunnan. One of our brothers took the light bulb of 14-24, and after a few shots, it was impossible to shoot it, because it was too open, and it was almost the same from any angle. On the contrary, focal lengths of 35 mm and 50 mm are more suitable for shooting different feelings. When you travel, you should shoot a wide angle, but it is of little use. Just make sure you can take a few pictures when you see the particularly beautiful scenery. Want to play its power, need a particularly good angle, height, light. A small wide angle of 35mm is more useful, and it is much less limited by angle and height.
The popular explanation of this truth is: the wider the angle, the more elements to accommodate, and naturally the more difficult it is to consider the combination of various elements and the more complicated the factors are; A wide angle of 35mm is much simpler, and the scenery in a small angle of view can be combined more flexibly. In a long journey, the weather, geographical location and people will only give you few opportunities at the same time, so 35mm is suitable for more conventional landscape shooting.
Although many people say that 35mm is a human eye, it is the best landscape lens for me. For example, Suzhou Museum, 24mm is too wide, and 50mm is not so wide. 35mm seems to be specially made for small-angle landscape photos, and it is always so suitable for such scenes. At the same time, the wide angle is not large, which avoids too much distortion. So it's comfortable to see such a reflection. I tried to shoot it once with 20mm, and the deformation will be great.
Another example is the peach blossom above, next to the messy elements such as telephone poles. If it were wider, you wouldn't be able to take such a clean picture. But if it is 50mm, there will be no such tension, and it is difficult to shoot the visual line of the road, so that the picture is not very monotonous, with a sense of extension, giving people room for daydreaming.
The indoor environment is as good as a 35mm lens, 24 is easy to deform, and 50mm can't open the space. 35mm As long as you master the shooting angle, you can ensure a comfortable environment and the portrait is not deformed.
Of course, it is also very good to use its small wide-angle distortion occasionally to have some visual interest. For example, the above one, posted closer, looks very interesting and adds interest to the picture. If it is 85mm or 50mm, this feeling is hard to come out. Because there is no distortion, it is quite satisfactory.
It is also good at environmental and humanistic feature films. Personally, I prefer humanistic films with story environment. For example, in the picture above, you can see the peach blossoms in Linzhi at a glance. Of course, friends who are familiar with Linzhi in Tibet can see that tall wild peach blossoms are landmarks, and only such peach blossoms are available. This picture is not like being a happy person tomorrow, feeding horses and chopping wood under a peach tree, facing the snow-capped mountains and blooming in spring.
Scenery with flavor can also be handled by it. 35mm fixed focus is a small-angle landscape, and I take into account both human nature and human nature.
I have three 35mm lenses, and Zeiss's 35mm fixed focus is often used by me to take scenery and sketch. Sigma's 35mm 1.4 was used by me to take pictures of indoor culture and some snapshots. There is also a Fuji 35mm 1.4. Accurately speaking, this is not 35mm, more like a 50mm viewing angle, but it is still 35mm. By the way, many photography media and forums are a little misleading to the public. The equivalent viewing angle is not equal to the equivalent focal length.
I always think that 85mm, 50mm and 35mm are a whole and a system, and we can't simply say which is powerful and which is not. Just like practicing a martial arts, it is different levels of martial arts, which are indispensable. Many friends want me to talk more about equipment. Actually, I am very cautious about equipment. Anyone familiar with the photography circle knows that there are the most disputes in the field of equipment, and most of them are meaningless disputes. A little carelessness will cause unnecessary disputes. The hardest thing to say here is 35mm fixed focus. This shot has been symbolized in major photography circles for too long. What? The eye of humanity, the king of sweeping the streets? Similar titles can be found everywhere, as if this shot was created to shoot the humanities and sweep the streets. I have a little different view on this cognition. I said it for reference only and didn't participate in the debate. If you are interested, you can add WeChat to communicate: photoxicao devices only talk about the experience. You like to use 35mm, and I like to use 85mm. Being able to make a good film is king, and then look at the world in the eyes of others. There is no need to evaluate everything. The meaning of communication is to exchange needed goods, not to prove each other's right or wrong.
