Daqing Museum is the first comprehensive museum in Northeast China with the theme of Quaternary paleoenvironment, paleofauna and paleoanthropology. The collection of more than 200,000 fossils, specimens and cultural relics has filled the gap in the collection of Quaternary mammalian fossils in Northeast China, making it one of the most complete and numerous museums in China and even the world.

There are three exhibitions in Daqing Museum: Quaternary natural environment in Northeast China, Quaternary mammals in Northeast China and ancient human civilization in Daqing area. Millions of years of evolutionary history and the display of fossil cultural relics make people understand the changes of natural and human history in Daqing area. While appreciating the beauty and interest of ancient lakes, ancient animals and ancient humans, people love Daqing, a beautiful urban home, more by tracing back to the source and learning from the past.

The exhibition hall of Daqing Museum is a comprehensive embodiment of the theme and characteristics of the whole museum. The hall display includes granite reliefs, copper sculpture and underground fossil burial. The huge annular granite relief shows the beautiful picture of Quaternary paleonatural environment, harmonious coexistence of ancient humans and ancient animals in northeast China. Mammoth, hairy rhinoceros and northeast bison are typical representatives of Quaternary mammal fauna in northeast China. Three groups of lifelike bronze sculptures with different shapes show the great momentum and harmony of the fauna. The circular fossil recovery burial site reproduces the original appearance of animal fossils buried in Quaternary strata. The overall space style of the museum strives for harmony and unity, solemnity and conciseness, prominent themes, distinctive features and strong visual impact, which better embodies the cultural connotation of the museum.

The Quaternary Natural Environment Exhibition in Northeast China mainly shows the evolution of natural ecology and the richness of resources in Daqing. By means of lake wetland, underwater tunnel landscape display, stratum core sample display and multimedia sand table model demonstration, the causes and conditions of Daqing Lake wetland are organically combined with Quaternary geology and geomorphology, and the formation and evolution process of underwater ecology and geology and geomorphology in ancient times is intuitively and scientifically described. In this exhibition area, we can understand the formation process of Quaternary ancient Songliao Lake through mechanical sand table. Cross the bottom of the lake and enjoy the fantastic underwater world of the ancient Great Lakes; Through the restored Quaternary stratum wall, explore the secrets in the stratum core; Touch the illustrated sliding TV to sort out 2.58 million years of Quaternary memorabilia; By comparing the changes of ancient great lakes and modern wetlands, we can master the secret of balance between taking and paying for nature; Until we see the animals that once thrived under our feet going extinct, people can't help thinking deeply about how to cherish this land under our feet and create a harmonious ecological environment.

"Quaternary Mammals in Northeast China" displays rich and precious paleontological fossils, and adopts extremely shocking and delicate display forms and means, focusing on the classification and description of Quaternary mammals, evolutionary comparison, the discovery and research of Quaternary at home and abroad, the collection and protection of Quaternary fossils in Daqing Museum, the relationship between Quaternary and human beings, and the interactive demonstration of installations. Create the ecological changes of animals, plants and human beings in the Paleoquaternary in the form of multimedia, create a brand-name display of paleontology and reveal the fauna.
