Behind-the-scenes Production of Garage Frighten
If P2 continues to discuss the inherent fear of human nature for solitude and darkness, it is no accident that this is also cleverly designed by people. There are three talented creative wizards behind, and * * * carefully weaves a maze of plot arrangements that can make people highly nervous. They are director Frank Kafang and screenwriter Alexander Aga and Grégory Levasseur respectively. Alexander Aga, who is also the producer of this film, said that this film is very similar to Jaws, except that one takes place underwater and the other takes place in a closed parking lot. The reason why they want to shoot P2 is to awaken the shock when a person is trapped in a dark place, such as an underground parking lot, where no one can find and help you. If someone is afraid to go to the parking lot alone or even park their car there because they have seen a movie, they can only say sorry, because their ultimate goal is to entertain the public.
As a filmmaker who paved the way for his career with honor and success, Alexander Aga praised Franck Khalfoun, the first director: "My screenwriter partner Grégory Levasseur and I once created a similar panic in the previous Blood Moon, and Chi Fang happened to be one of the leading roles. From then on, we thought he might be the best candidate to direct P2. Fresh story ideas always pop up in his mind. In the process of filming, Leviathan and I used our accumulated experience in film technology to help him. " Chi Fang believes: "This cooperative relationship that can go in a good direction from the beginning is beneficial and harmless to shooting. We create characters together and then polish them throughout the production process. Aga and Levaser were inspired to write such a script because they read a news report about how a woman in Paris was trapped in an underground parking lot and was frightened. " Levaser added: "I have worked with Ajia for many years, and it is a very good change to let Kafang join us. Because we created this story together, we naturally stayed on the set when shooting. What I want to say is that the characters in the film have distinct personalities and high credibility, and we put them in a completely reasonable story background. "
According to the three filmmakers, the multiple elements that make up P2 are actually reflected by the fears in the hearts of the two protagonists: Angela's panic comes from being trapped in a dark parking lot, giving people an ominous feeling that she can't escape; Thomas's fear is because of loneliness, but also because of his love for the company and Angela. Franck Khalfoun said: "Whether he works in the parking lot or she is trying to escape, she is a prisoner of ‘P2'. I think only by putting the two actors in this claustrophobic environment can we help them enter the role as soon as possible. "
In the movie, Angela is a strong woman who refuses to leave any work until the next day, even on Christmas Eve. She stayed in the office until the building was empty, only to find that she was suddenly pushed into a terrible situation. In order to escape from the clutches, Angela must use her wisdom to fight a death race with the dangerous security guards with mental disorders.
Patrick Washberg, another producer of the film and CEO of Peak Entertainment, said: "What I like most about this story is that its physical reaction and psychological state are very simple, and at the same time, it uses the place to create a horrible atmosphere. What really attracts me here is the power brought by the protagonist-there is a woman in a terrible situation, but she bravely refuses to be a poor victim. " This story also contains an amazing element. When a person has the opportunity to satisfy his long-standing desire, whether it is good or bad, it becomes the main line of the whole story. However, director Franck Khalfoun seems to know all the themes better: "This story tests you from beginning to end, and you are completely regarded as a smart person. The script is really attractive to read, so I take it for granted that if it is turned into a picture, it should be equally attractive. "
Fear can make you lose your judgment.
Wes bentley plays Thomas, a parking lot security guard. At first glance, he is easy-going, but he soon shows his true nature. Bentley said, "Thomas cares about Angela, but in a strange way." But what really appeals to me about this role is its complexity. I believe that his thoughts contain some things that he doesn't even know, which is very worth digging. Thomas belongs to that kind of person who is difficult to define. As an actor, you know that this role has more potential than an armchair strategist. Especially for a thriller movie, playing Thomas is definitely a psychological test. "
Speaking of rachel nichols, his opposite, wes bentley continued: "Nichols is a great actress. She came prepared. As soon as she arrived at the set, she became Angela. Constant external stimuli made her suffer in P2. You can understand how much she has been hit by Nichols, especially when she is ready to fight back, which will make you involuntarily excited. " Even director Franck Khalfoun spoke highly of Nichols: "We chose Nichols for another reason, and that is her high IQ. Angela in the film is a smart woman, and she will never make a stupid decision like the heroine in other horror movies. "
Rachel nichols responded: "I believe that when Angela and I are in the same danger, I will be as strong as her. Angela knows when to run away and when to obey. Once she finds an opportunity, she will immediately turn it into her advantage. The role of Angela is really impressive. She is very brave. She is the kind of smart girl who knows when to fight and when to hide. When necessary, she can even pick up a butcher knife and become a god of death. " Nichols said that he was really lucky to find such a suitable person to play opposite him: "When wes bentley finally agreed to play the role of Thomas, I felt that I had found a partner who would eventually make you admire. Although we often joke with each other during the audition and get along well, once we started shooting, our relationship changed immediately and became a hunter and a victim. This is a state of complete opposition and hostility. "
In order to ensure a reliable thriller, one of the screenwriters, Alexander Aga, said, "In fact, fear is always relative, so we need to find a new way to express it without repeating ourselves." All the stories took place in the closed space of a single scene, and the shooting work was carried out in an orderly way in the real parking lot. Most of them choose to shoot at night, which will not affect the normal operation of the parking lot during the day, but also make the story in the film as true as possible. However, just capturing the correct position with a camera is already a difficult problem to overcome.
Photographer Maxime Alexandre's big-screen debut is Blood Moon by Alexander Aga, and he prefers to use lights to express different levels of suspense. Alexander recalled: "This is the first time in my career that I made a complete movie with only one scene. So we can only express different aspects of the story by changing the lights. We divided the whole parking lot into three parts: the first part has bright lights, so Angela still feels safe; In the second part, Angela finds herself in absolute darkness, and then the emergency light is on; The third part comes from a key scene where Angela and Thomas face each other, and the lighting is between the first two parts. This method helps the whole movie to build a sense of tension bit by bit, and the audience is completely unaware of it. "
