Before interviewing Ma Ankou, I had guessed a lot about this person.
He has multiple identities and his creative style is very different from other artists. It can be said that he is somewhat different, novel and fashionable. How on earth can one accomplish these tasks and create these works?

I am curious. This exhibition is called "Jing Liu Hai", which seems to be a brand-new art form. Can you tell us something about its special meaning?
Ma Ji: Actually, when it comes to meaning, we should start with the word "Jing" in Liu Hai in Beijing. "Quiet" in ancient Chinese means quiet, still life, stability, appeasement and respect. It also represents my quiet photographic illustrations. The deeper you go, the deeper you will find. The word "sea" means "all rivers run into the sea" and "Shanghai style culture", indicating the diversity of my works, while "Liu" hopes that my works can reveal some social phenomena today. Therefore, behind a calm painting, there are still some hidden meanings. Of course, 100 people have 100 hammers in their heads. In the face of a work, different people have different views, but the pursuit of expressing the deep artistic conception of a thing is what I hope to do most.
What kind of works can be called "Beijing bangs"?
Maji: "Fine bangs" is an original artistic expression of my own. If it meets three characteristics, it can be called "Beijing Liu Hai" work. First of all, it is a combination of various creative makeup styles of today's social phenomena, followed by close-up shooting regardless of venue, and finally a unique illustration style. At the same time, it can be regarded as a "Beijing" style work.
There is a series of "10 Endangered Animals, China" in Jing's works, which seems to be very different from other artists' styles and artistic presentation in the past. Can you talk about the original intention and concept of creation at that time?
Maji: Because some of my previous works can be summarized as technical works with little deep meaning, and the series "10 Endangered Animals, China" can be regarded as "Beijing". I spent a lot of time on it. First, I need to find the prototype pictures of those animals, and then design makeup according to their own characteristics. Of course, models also need it. In addition, I also created a series of works about dance and the origin of dance species, as well as a series of works about the quintessence of Beijing opera.
Now you have several jobs, such as styling director, music producer, fashion brand, illustrator and so on. Will these identities or work experiences inspire your creation?
Maji: That's for sure. It is precisely because of these work experiences that I have laid the foundation for my present creation. I do makeup, photography and post-editing, and the works created from this are completely full of my personal style from beginning to end. This is also the special feature of Jing's works.
