P40 is equipped with11.28 inch four Bayer RYYB CMOS (model or IMX700), with an effective pixel of about 50 million. This is the largest CMOS size of mobile phones on sale, which is about 8% higher than 1 100 million pixel CMOS of Xiaomi and Samsung. The size of a single pixel is 1.2μm, which is 4 1 in daily shooting, and the equivalent size is about 2.4μm m, which is not only the same as the fusion size of Samsung S20 Ultra in daily shooting (1 2 million pixels), but also the same as Sony RX 100 series and Canon G7x/.

P40 Pro+ adopts Huawei's second generation periscope telephoto camera, and the equivalent focal length is increased from about 125mm in P30 Pro to about 240mm. P40 Pro+ uses the same "focal plane" as Mate 30 Pro as a super wide angle, and has a lens with an equivalent focal length of 1.54 inch, a 40-megapixel CMOS (model or IMX608) and 18mm. The ratio of this CMOS is 3:2, and 4 1 in daily shooting is 3840×2592. In low light, 16-in- 1 achieved better 1080P high-sensitivity image quality. The single pixel size after 16 and 1 is equivalent to 4.48μm, which is larger than the CMOS of APS-C with 24 million pixels/26 million pixels.
In fact, these functions, Mate 30 Pro should be exactly the same. TechInsights conducted disassembly analysis before, and it has been confirmed that this CMOS(IMX608) is a 4×4 Bayer structure. Huawei is using practical actions to prove that high pixels are just gimmicks, or that large pixels are real.

Although this "focal plane" supports ultra-slow motion of 7680FPS and ultra-high sensitivity of ISO5 1200, it does not have strong macro capability.

Huawei has also introduced an 8-channel color temperature sensor and AI algorithm library, which is believed to help RYYB CMOS provide better color reproduction and improve the color shift under some specific light sources. It is worth mentioning that Huawei P40 series supports eSIM cards this time.
