1, Pudacuo

Pudacuo is the first national park in China, located 22km east of Shangri-La County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. In Tibetan, "Pudacuo" means that God helps to reach the other side of the lake by boat. The water quality and air quality of Pudacuo National Park have reached the national first-class standards.

Pudacuo is mainly composed of Bitahai and Shudu Lake, with an altitude of 3500m to 4 159m, which is an important part of the "Three Parallel Rivers" scenic spot. There are geological landforms, lakes and wetlands, forest meadows, valleys and streams, and rare animals and plants in the park. The original ecological environment is well preserved.

Pudacuo National Park consists of three parts: Shudu Lake, Bitahai and Xiageizang Cultural Eco-tourism Village. According to the regulations of IUCN on the characteristics of "national parks", the landscape resources in the parks must be primitive, unique, natural and rare, and have not been reclaimed by human beings. Therefore, entering Pudacuo, the lakes and mountains are natural and strictly managed. The route of sightseeing and scientific research is fixed. You can take an eco-car along an 80-kilometer-long ecological road, or you can walk on your own to ensure that there will be no adverse impact on the environment of the park.

2. Tiger leaping gorge

Hutiaoxia is located in Hutiaoxia Town, Shangri-La City, about 96 kilometers away from downtown Shangri-La and 80 kilometers away from downtown Lijiang. Tiger leaping gorge is the largest gorge in the world, which is divided into three sections: upper, middle and lower tiger leaping gorge. Known for its strangeness, danger and heroism, the narrowest part of the river is only twenty or thirty meters, and with the huge gap, the river is surging. In addition to the magnificent natural scenery, it is also a world-famous hiking resort with an endless stream of outdoor enthusiasts.

Tips for hiking

1. Every year after May, the Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area is rainy, the road may be a little slippery, and stones will roll down the mountain. Be safe on foot.

Physically speaking, it is not too difficult to cross Tiger Leaping Gorge. Make full preparations and plans before hiking, choose a good route according to your own situation, and allocate time reasonably. Most healthy young people can complete the route through Tiger Leaping Gorge on foot.

3. Hiking the Tiger Leaping Gorge. One section of the road is a dirt road connecting Baishuitai and Qiaotou. Cross-country jeeps are almost impassable, and landslides often occur in summer and autumn. The other section of the road starts from a fork in the road near Tina Hotel in China. Climbed about 200 meters, parallel to the road, ending at the bridge. On the way, you will pass the "local bay" and "turn 28".

4. It takes about 30 kilometers to walk the Tiger Leaping Gorge, which usually takes 2-3 days. On the way, you can see the waterfall on the way from the walnut garden to Tina and the waterfall on the way from Tina to the local bay.

The first route:

From east to west against the Jinsha River: Lijiang-Daju-Crossing the River by boat-Walnut Garden (Woody or Shanquan Hotel)-Zhonghua Tiao (Tina's)-In Zhongxia Hotel)-Benben Bay (Halfway Inn)-Turn 28-Qiaotou-Lijiang.

Tip: There are many downhill bends on the 28th all the way, and the physical consumption is relatively small. You can enjoy the scenery along the Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is suitable for photographers. You can also go on to Daju, along the Haba Snow Mountain through Baja Township, to Baishuitai (Sanba Township), and then to Zhongdian. Completing the rest of the journey requires better physical strength and perseverance, and it is best to have local people as guides.

The second route:

From east to west against the Jinsha River: Lijiang-Daju-Crossing the River by boat-Walnut Garden (Woody or Shanquan Hotel)-Zhonghua Tiao (Tina's)-In Zhongxia Hotel)-Benben Bay (halfway)-Exit Expressway-Shanghutou-Qiaotou-Lijiang.

Tip: Lijiang takes a bus to get together. Starting from the upper reaches of Daju, the advantage of hiking is that it is more suitable for photography and can feel the dangers of the canyon. When you get to the bridge, you have more choices to take the shuttle bus to the middle or go back to Lijiang. In the second route, I personally visited Tiger Leaping, but the road was too easy to meet the requirements of hiking.

The third route:

Down the Jinsha River from west to east: Lijiang-Qiaotou-No.28 turn-Tujia Bay (halfway)-Zhonghua Tiao (Tina's)-inside Zhongxia Hotel)-Walnut Garden (woody or mountain spring hotel)-crossing the river by boat-Daju-Lijiang.

Tip: This hiking route is widely publicized by foreign media, so foreign hikers generally take this route. The route is from west to east, and there are many uphill roads at turn 28, which consumes a lot of physical strength.

3. The First Bay of the Yangtze River

The First Bay of the Yangtze River is located between Shigu Town, Lijiang City, northwest Yunnan and Bicun Village, Sha Song, south of Shangri-La County, with an altitude of1.850m and a distance of1.30km, with direct access by road. The Yangtze River flows down from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the roof of the world, enters Yunnan in Batang County, and passes through the mountains and deep valleys of Hengduan Mountains together with Lancang River and Nujiang River, forming a magnificent landscape of "Three Parallel Rivers". When I arrived at Bicun Village, Sha Song, Shangri-La County, I suddenly took a sharp turn of 100 degrees and turned to the northeast, forming a rare V-shaped bend. "The river reverses here and flows into the territory of the Central Plains", and people call this world wonder "the first bay of the Yangtze River".

From Lijiang Bus Station, you can take the shuttle bus to Shigu Town. Lijiang is 45 kilometers away from Shigu, about 2 hours' drive. Tourists take the county shuttle bus to Shigu Town, and the fare is 15 yuan/person. You can also go by chartered bus, but the price should be negotiable. To visit the First Bay of the Yangtze River and Shigu, you can take the shuttle bus in front of the bus stations and hotels in Lijiang City. You can choose the combination route of Tiger Leaping Gorge and this scenic spot for sightseeing.

The best tourist season: autumn is the first, followed by summer. In autumn, the air is fresh and the climate is pleasant. Chatting in cool summer is also very pleasant. Lijiang is a good choice, with flowers in spring and sunshine in winter. Warm in winter and cool in summer, suitable for all seasons.

4. Songzanlin Temple

Songzanlin Temple is very similar in shape to Potala Palace in Tibet and is called "Little Potala Palace". Located at the foot of Foping Mountain, 5 kilometers north of Shangri-La, it is one of the "Thirteen Forests" built by Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty in A.D. 1679. It is not only the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple community in Yunnan, but also the center of Yellow Religion in Sichuan and Yunnan.

The temple was built in 1679. It is built on the mountain and faces the lake. It is majestic, solemn and mysterious, and it is the primary temple of Tibetan Buddhism in Yunnan. The whole temple has a solid and thick wall and five gates. The Great Temple is a five-story Tibetan sculpture building. Daxiong Hall can accommodate 1600 people to chant Buddhist scriptures. There are also five and seven generations of bronze statues in the temple, as well as many historical treasures such as Buddha statues, Bayleaf Sutra, colorful gold juice painted Thangka, golden lanterns and handed down utensils. There are 7000 monks in the temple. Every year 12 February 26th-29th, Tibetans will hold the Gedong Festival, which focuses on "dancing in disguise". The atmosphere is mysterious and warm.
