At present, most domestic UAV photogrammetry systems are basically developed by introducing foreign data processing engines, which have no independent property rights and limited functions.

SmartDPS is an intelligent photogrammetry system for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the Institute of Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Engineering of Hohai University. The research and development of this system has successfully solved some key technical problems, such as intelligent aerial triangulation of disordered free images, image feature extraction and feature matching based on GPU parallel computing, dense matching of UAV images, rapid mosaic of digital orthophoto (DOM), and efficient calculation of super-large sparse matrix. The system has the advantages of high-precision calibration of ordinary digital cameras, automatic orientation of images, efficient three-dimensional adjustment by beam method, dense matching of images, automatic generation of three-dimensional point clouds and DEM, rapid correction and splicing of DOM, automatic generation of contour lines and digital mapping. The main technical advantages of this system are:

(1) algorithm is stable and reliable, and it has low requirements for UAV photography conditions. It can process disorderly and free UAV images without the support of inertial navigation POS data, and is suitable for all types of UAVs.

(2) The algorithm has excellent performance and low requirements for computer hardware configuration, and can be efficiently processed on ordinary computers;

(3) Based on GPU/CPU and multithreading technology, it runs efficiently and stably, and can process more than 1000 images within 3 hours;

(4) It has the ability to efficiently solve super-large-scale matrix, is not limited by the number of images, and has the ability to process massive UAV image data;

(5) The image matching algorithm is robust and can quickly obtain dense, uniform and accurate 3D point clouds;

(6) It has powerful three-dimensional visual digital mapping function, and the production efficiency of digital line drawing (DLG) is high;

(7) High degree of automation and one-button operation; At the same time, it has powerful human-computer interaction function;

(8) Without relying on control points, three-dimensional fine reconstruction of shooting targets without control points can be realized.
