My hometown Shangqiu is located in the beautiful eastern plain of Henan Province. Although there are no mountains and rivers here, it is dominated by agriculture. Although it is labeled as a contiguous poverty-stricken area in the country, the land is fertile and the four seasons are distinct. This is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and the Chinese nation. The people are hardworking and capable, and have supported people who have lived here for generations.

What I want to say today is which season is the most beautiful in Shangqiu. As mentioned above, Shangqiu belongs to the continental monsoon climate of warm temperate zone and semi-warm, with four distinct seasons: warm in spring, hot in summer, cool in autumn and cold in winter. But I like autumn in Shangqiu, and I feel autumn is the most beautiful.

It's winter now. It may not take 1 month, and the first snow in winter will fall. At that time, there was a silver snake dancing in the water, and the scene between heaven and earth was amazing. But without the excitement of autumn, autumn in Shangqiu field is full of harvest scenes. Autumn wind blows and golden corn waves roll, which makes farmers happy. Most of the corn planted by farmers is a high-yield variety. In addition, every household will plant some special varieties of corn, such as fragrant corn, waxy corn and blood corn. These special corn are essential for making steamed cakes in the New Year, but because of the low yield of special corn, farmers do not plant them in large quantities. At this time, it is the slack season, and people are engaged in small autumn harvests in twos and threes. They pick red beans, mung beans, cowpeas and edamame. In their private plots or ten fields, some are planted with sweet potatoes and taro, and some are planting autumn or winter vegetables (garlic, spinach, parsley, etc. They are still busy in the off-season.

In the spring of Shangqiu, a hundred flowers blossom and birds contend, which is a lively scene. However, without the quietness of autumn, the insects that birds like to eat are gradually scarce in the first frost of autumn. Therefore, they often fly to farmers in droves and steal the rotten millet left in the nutritious courtyard. Farmers feel their eyes hurt, especially those sparrows that chirp. They eat a lot, and when they eat grains, they can be called robbers among birds, but they are helpless.

Shangqiu in summer is covered with trees and sweet fruits, but it is less fun than autumn. In late autumn, the first frost came, the sweet potato reached maturity, the leaves of the sweet potato turned black and the sweet potato was exposed to the ground. The farmers are beaming in the harvest fields, and everyone is gearing up, waiting for the day when the sickle opens. Occasionally, big swallows flying south appear in the sky. They are arranged in a single character for a while and a word for a while. They fly to the south for the winter very early, and a large number of swallows usually fly to the south after the winter begins.
