Introduction to Sanxi Temple Attractions:
Mianzhu Sanxi Temple was built during the Xiangfu period of the Northern Song Dynasty. The founder of the temple was Elder Yuchuan. With extraordinary vision, the temple was built in a place surrounded by mountains, facing a lake, and surrounded by clear water and green tents. The backlight of the temple is a line of Dapeng Mountain slumping down. Dragons and water surround the sand and gather on the ball eaves, and tigers turn on the piano table. The eight scenic spots around the temple are wonderful and lovely. Towering nanmu and ginkgo trees block out the sun, shrouding the ancient temple in green tranquility. Over the centuries, many literati have written poems here to express their feelings.
The main features of Yang Sheng'an's poems from the Ming Dynasty in Sichuan describing the scenery of Sanxi Temple are: seclusion and tranquility. The majestic stone in front of the temple, the spiritual spring (Three Arrows Water), the lake and the pine breeze on the side of the temple, all have outlined a fascinating landscape painting with just a few strokes. Li Tiaoyuan, a famous Sichuan scholar from the Qianlong Imperial Academy, also wrote poems at Sanxi Temple.
Sanxi Temple covers an area of ??about 9,000 square meters. There are buildings such as Maitreya Hall, Guanyin Hall, Big Buddha Hall, Patriarch Hall, and monks’ dormitory rooms in the temple. The handwriting of Batu Luhan from the Yuan Dynasty still exists on the two walls of Guanyin Hall. The two characters "dragon and tiger" are about five meters in diameter and are formed in one stroke, like a curling dragon and snake, powerful and ancient. According to county annals, the temple suffered numerous wars during the Yuan Dynasty and was destroyed in Gengrong (1370). After years of repairs, except for the Great Buddha Hall, the rest of the buildings in the temple have been built in the Qing Dynasty. Only the Great Buddha Hall still belongs to the Ming Dynasty. According to the inscription on the palace beam, it was built in the 10th year of Hongwu (1377) in the Ming Dynasty. This temple has a history of more than 610 years.
After on-site inspection by ancient architecture experts from the Provincial Cultural Administration Commission, it is believed that this temple has high historical value and architectural artistic value. For this reason, the Mianzhu County People's Government announced Sanxi Temple as a cultural relic protection unit in Mianzhu County in June 1985. In 1991, it was announced as a municipal cultural relic protection unit by the Deyang Municipal People's Government. After continuous repairs, the temple buildings were gradually improved and Buddhist statues and sculptures were gradually restored. On both sides of the restored Great Buddha Hall, there are still two osmanthus trees that are said to have been planted by the founding father. One is golden osmanthus and the other is silver osmanthus. The trees are unique in shape and elegant in posture. Legend has it that the founder of Tamagawa broke off a branch of osmanthus, tore it in half, and inserted it into the soil on both sides of the temple to survive. Gold blooms with red flowers, and silver osmanthus blooms with white flowers. Lu Jiyong, the magistrate of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, once wrote a couplet for this scene: two osmanthus trees and three streams; misty rain and clouds halfway up the mountain at four o'clock. The two osmanthus trees have flourished for six centuries and are fragrant.
There are many scenic spots surrounding Sankei Temple, which are correspondingly interesting. Lion Rock and Hidden Dragon Head. Opposite the mountain gate of Sanxi Temple, there is an undulating hillside a hundred steps away. Although the slope is not more than ten feet high, its shape is like a natural barrier, hiding the temple buildings. When tourists arrive at the temple, they still don't know where the temple is. After turning around the slope, they can see the temple, as if a fairy palace has descended from the sky, which can relieve tourists' fatigue and sharply increase their energy. There are several huge rocks at the entrance of the slope, which look like lions at the intersection, hence the name Lion Rock. Walking a hundred steps along the Lion Rock, there is a rock protruding about 3 meters away. Its shape resembles a dragon's head, with its mouth wide open, as if it had just woken up from a deep sleep on the slope and looked up to the sky and roared. When tourists see this, they are all fascinated by the miraculous craftsmanship of nature. , took photos one after another.
The inscriptions of Three Arrows and Lingyuan Bridge. Walking up the road in front of the temple, about 500 meters away, there is a scenic spot called Three Arrows Water. There is a clear spring here, which is exceptionally clear and crystal clear. Several streams of spring water gush out from the ground at all times, making a thumping sound like the sound of a piano. There is a mottled ancient monument standing on the bank of the spring, which is the famous Lingyuan Bridge monument. This stele was erected in December of the Dingwei year of Hongzhi in the Ming Dynasty (1488). It has been more than 500 years old. The inscription on the stele states: Forty miles west of Mianyi, there is a sacred spring to the left of Guang'an Temple in Sanxi Mountain. In the Four Seasons, Xiangfu of the Song Dynasty took the initiative to build Guang'an Temple. According to legend, it was named after Meng, the Marquis of Shu, visited the three springs and shot them. From this incomplete inscription, it is easy to see that Meng Chang of the Five Dynasties of Shu Dynasty marched to Mianzhu. Due to drought and the soldiers were hungry and thirsty, Meng Chang fired three arrows in succession to shoot out the gurgling spring water. Although this legend is not credible, the spring water here has been tested by experts and is indeed a high-quality mineral water containing strontium and low sodium, which can be used as the water base for a variety of drinks. Whenever tourists come here, they all drink from the sweet spring.
Kuniu Mountain and Kueniu Lake. Not far from Sanjianshui, you will reach the beautiful Kunniu Lake. When you stand on the lake embankment and look at the vast mirror-like lake surface and the islands in the lake that are as powerful as crouching cows, under the reflection of the sky and cloud shadows, you will naturally have a poetic feeling that the mountains are like green eyebrows and the water is like autumn waves. .
Green lions and white elephants herd sheep. A mountain peak connected to Kunniushan Island is lined with strange rocks. From the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, there are countless silver-gray rocks, just like a flock of sheep going up the mountain. It is full of vitality and colorful. There are two huge rocks between these sheep, one shaped like a green lion and the other shaped like a white elephant, called the Green Lion and White Elephant Rocks. According to legend, Zen Master Yuchuan, the founder of the Song Dynasty, traveled here on a green lion and white elephant. Because he was nostalgic for the beautiful scenery here, he settled in a cave to practice Taoism. He put the green lion and white elephant on the mountain to look after the sheep, so he left this picture of the lion and elephant herd. Natural drawing of sheep.
Stone bells and stone drums. There is a huge rock above and below the rock not far from the Lion Elephant Rock, which is called Shizhong Rock. A cave that can accommodate a hundred people is formed under the rock. What's strange is that when you enter the cave entrance and look up at the top of the cave, a pit with a diameter of about 2 meters naturally forms, and its shape resembles the inner wall of a giant bell. Hit it with a stone and it will make a thumping sound. Since the early Qing Dynasty, many literati and scholars have written poems about this stone clock. Opposite Shizhongyan is a rock shaped like a giant drum, which is called Shiguyan. It makes the sound of a drum when struck. Legend has it that it is also the relic of the founder of Tamagawa who placed the bells and drums on both sides of the hillside.
In addition, there are Chaoyang Cave, Hongyun Cave, Shuilian Cave, Monkey Rock, Turtle Rock, Fuhu Rock and other scenic spots around the temple. Whenever tourists visit the Sanxi Temple Scenic Area, they are all fascinated by the mountains and rivers. The beauty of cultural relics, the source of beautiful bells and whistles, lingers on and is praised by everyone. Some people even say that the scenery of Sanxi is as fascinating as Lingyin Temple in West Lake.
