How did the Yellow River Hippo Little Chef Bay come into being?

The Yellow River Hippo Little Chef Bay is mainly because it hits the Loess Plateau from Lanzhou, and the river flows northward and continues to spread in the Hetao Plain, thus reaching the south of the Yangtze River. Then, due to the unobstructed Yellow River Gorge, it flows southward, joins the mountain after reaching Tongguan, and then flows eastward into the sea.

This forms a unique zigzag structure.

Near Tongguan, there is a saying that Dayu controls water and blows up the Yellow River, so now there is a Yumenkou, also known as Longmen, at the junction of Shaanxi and Shanxi, which is the credit of Dayu.

However, Dayu is only recognized in the history of China, and the world history does not recognize his existence, because there is no antiquities in history to prove that this person once existed, and the ancient books and documents record that Dayu is even more boastful. It seems that he is a god rather than a man, so it is hard to believe that Dayu opened the Yellow River.

Therefore, the zigzag trend of the Yellow River can only be said to be a natural sight. Its greatest significance lies in bringing abundant cultivated land to the arid area outside the Great Wall.

In addition, when the Yellow River crossed the Loess Plateau, it also took away a lot of sediment and filled the estuary. In a positive sense, it creates a considerable amount of cultivated land for China every year, while in a negative sense, it also deposits a lot of sediment in the middle and lower reaches with gentle water flow, forming a riverbed higher than the ground, which increases the risk of annual floods along the Yellow River.
