What is the Golden Horse Awards?

The Golden Horse Awards is a film award held in Taiwan, China. It is one of the earliest Chinese film awards in the world. It aims to reward the creation and development of Chinese films and is known as the "Oscar Awards in the Chinese film industry".

In 1962, the Taiwan Information Bureau announced the implementation of the "Fifty-Year Measures for Rewarding Mandarin Films" and officially created the Golden Horse Awards. ***There are 18 awards. The selection results will be announced first and then the awards ceremony will be held. This format will be maintained until the 14th edition. The award ceremony is held on October 31st every year, and will be held on October 30th for the third to fifteenth editions.

In 1979, the Golden Horse Awards was no longer limited to October 30 each year, and was expanded to a gala format.

In 1980, the first international film viewing exhibition was held, and the theme song "Golden Horse Galloping" composed by Fan Manon and written by Sun Yi was used for the first time.

In 1984, the Golden Horse Awards were handed over to the private sector for the first time.

In 1993, the Golden Horse Awards established the Avenue of Stars. Mainland filmmakers officially organized a group to participate in related activities for the first time, and the awards ceremony was broadcast simultaneously in Asia for the first time.

In 1997, the Information Bureau abolished the "Measures for Rewarding Outstanding Mandarin Films" and positioned the Golden Horse Awards as a global Chinese film competition.
