Yunnan Art College, founded in 1959, is a comprehensive art college with distinctive features and complete art categories in southwest China. The school is located in the southwest of Yuhua District, Chenggong New District, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, covering an area of 800 mu.

Yunnan Arts University has a complete set of school-running majors. The existing 38 undergraduate majors cover all the art majors in the Catalogue of Undergraduate Majors in Colleges and Universities promulgated by the Ministry of Education, involving art, literature, management, engineering and other disciplines. There are various training levels, including full-time postgraduate education, Master of Arts (MFA) postgraduate education, on-the-job postgraduate education for college teachers, full-time general college education, education for foreign students, higher vocational and technical education, correspondence education, college education and secondary art majors. It has the qualifications for running schools at all levels and is open to students from all over the country and the world.

At present, there are 10 teaching units: Conservatory of Music, Academy of Fine Arts, Academy of Art Design, Academy of Drama, Academy of Dance, Academy of Film and Television, Academy of Art and Culture, College of Continuing Education and College of Higher Art Vocational Education, Wenhua College (independent college, jointly organized with enterprises), affiliated art school (secondary vocational school), and three teaching departments of Marxism College, Public Teaching Department and Physical Education Department. At present, there are two provincial-level engineering construction disciplines and six first-level disciplines for awarding master's degrees, and all fields under the master's degree in art and master's degree in engineering have been awarded.
