Fourth place. Hitchcock's Suspense Story —— Reading Notes on Killing with a Sword

The previous impression of Hitchcock came from the film industry's evaluation of him, saying that he created the classic style of the film, that is, suspense films characterized by tension and horror.

This week, I was lucky enough to see Hitchcock's suspense story collection-killing with a knife. Although I didn't read the whole book, I was deeply impressed by the unexpected stories in it.

Here are some stories that I think are quite wonderful:

Comments: At the beginning of the story, the atmosphere was set off by the contrast between the super bodyguard Jack Hal and the talented professional killer nicknamed "Eskimo", and then the "Eskimo" disguised as a taxi driver formed a sharp contrast with the killer image in Jack Hal's mind. Finally, when the author focused his attention on Dzhakhar carefully taking out the "dangerous things" in the package, the plot suddenly reversed, and the pen signed by Dzhakhar was replaced by a pen with a miniature bomb, which exploded in a panic on the phone, and the story came to an abrupt end. One second, everyone was sighing for Jakhar's successful elimination of the "poisoned wine storm" in the express delivery, and the next second, he was shocked by the explosion of a cleverly designed pen. It was wonderful!

Comment: This is the richest story of psychological activity I have ever seen! At the beginning of the story, the photographer's suddenness didn't make Mark panic. Instead, the photographer said, "However, I have a second job, which pays more than a photographer." Mark found a breakthrough in the counterattack. Through layers of inducements, he was able to get close to and open the safe, and the photographer's gun photos taken by the miniature camera were firmly locked, thus defeating the army of photographer John. The beauty of the story lies in Kyle's full initiative in the negotiation, taking the analysis of the killer's personality weakness as a breakthrough, confusing him with true and false words, and finally making him fall into a trap carefully designed by himself.

Strangers in the fog

Comment: This story is somewhat similar to the first story "Top Master" in tone. First, there are many suspense hidden by mental patients. Through Tom's "suspicious documents" and Michael's nervous behavior, readers mistakenly think that mental patients must be one of them. "At this time, a third stranger appeared in the fog. This man crept out of the fog quietly, holding a long and sharp kitchen knife ..." The vivid and sudden feeling of the picture created a strong atmosphere of terror, which made readers feel too late to breathe. ...
