Xishan Temple, also known as Guandi Temple, was built in Tianshun period of Ming Dynasty. It is said that before Guandi Temple was built, there was Lujing Ancestral Society, and a big banyan tree was planted next to it. The foothills of the temple were secluded, and the old banyan covered the sky. In midsummer, it was cool and cool, and the summer heat disappeared. "Lujing Banyan Tree Shade" is one of the eight scenic spots in Fengcheng in Qing Dynasty.
There are many ancient pagodas in Shunde, which are pavilion-style buildings, all of which are Feng Shui pagodas. Due to long-standing disrepair, many pagodas have been destroyed. The existing ones are the seven-story pagodas in Longjiang and the pagodas in Guizhou Waicun. Both pagodas were built in the Qing Dynasty, with seven stories high, and each lintel is engraved with words. Longjiang Wenta is still located at the edge of Jitang in Jibei, while Guizhou Wenta has been renovated into a park and opened to visitors.
In ancient times, the residential buildings of Zhongshang people in Shunde were mostly brick and wood structures, with blue bricks as walls, terraced bricks as floors, red and white stone slabs as patios, and dragon boat ridges and "bell ears" painted on the tile roofs, which were used for decoration and wind protection, so it was called "bell ears house".
The hometown of Cantonese opera has a long history. From the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China to the modern times, Shunde has been famous for its many generations. Today, Quyi clubs (commonly known as "private clubs") abound in towns and villages, especially in Jun 'an, Rong Gui, Daliang and other places. In their spare time, the members of Quyi clubs get together and sing some classic songs. When there is a festival, they will perform on stage or sing Cantonese songs in front of the ancestral temple to help celebrate, so as to increase the festive atmosphere. Most of the performers are relatives and friends familiar to the audience, and the performance atmosphere is warm and harmonious.
There are numerous river networks in Shunde. In order to facilitate transportation, ancient residents built stone bridges, thus showing the characteristics of small bridges, flowing water and people's hometown. Its architectural forms are mainly longitudinal and frame longitudinal masonry. At present, there are hundreds of stone bridges scattered in Shunde water town, with different ages and structures. The existing famous ancient bridges in China include Mingyuan, Juji Bridge, Liri Bridge in Luoshui, Zhennv Bridge in Shifu, Longjiang, Luoyang Bridge in Siji, Rong Gui and so on.
Sociology is a primary Confucianism established in rural communities in ancient times. It was organized by the local government and managed by the government. There is a well next to the tree, which is narrow in mouth and wide in inside, clear and can be used as a guide, commonly known as a leafless well. Now it has been built into Shusheng Bridge Park, which has become a good place for local residents to enjoy the cool in the summer.
tanabata, also known as qiqiao festival, is the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. On the night of Qixi Festival, good faith in villages all over the country spontaneously raised funds to make exquisite handicrafts, set up a case for display in the ancestral temple Tianjie, and set up incense sticks, fruits, flowers and powder for sacrifice, praying for the blessing of the Seven Sisters (Weavers), which is actually the villagers' yearning, worship and praise for faithful love in real life.
In the past, due to the river network all over Shunde, the Xijiang River and the Beijiang River ran through it, and all the water residents took boats as their homes and lived a life of "smoke and water in the west and then back to the east", so they were called "Yi people". Yi people got up every morning and went home at night, fishing for fish, shrimp, sand clams and other trafficking in rivers as their livelihood. After liberation, the former water residents have settled on the land one after another, and now most of them are water fishermen from other places who are active in Shunde rivers.
Bingyutang is located in Shatou Village, Jun 'an Town. It was built by raising funds for self-grooming girls living abroad. In ancient feudal society, when a woman got married, she had to comb a bun in big jin. After getting married, she had to abide by three obedience and four virtues. Many Shunde women refused to be bound by clan rules, so they found several sisters to become sworn brothers, held a ceremony on another day, and never married, so they were called "self-combing women". After the 193s, Shunde self-grooming girls went to Hong Kong, Macao, Southeast Asia and other places in large numbers. By the 197s and 198s, they returned to their hometown to build a building as a place to live and retire in their later years, named "Ice Jade Hall", which means clean and pure.
