SLR photography, what common photography skills can make the machine better?

SLR photography, it seems that the operation of SLR is very complicated. Photography Xiaobai is inevitably confused when he first comes into contact with SLR cameras, and he doesn't know how to start. However, SLR cameras have evolved to this mature stage and have a lot of automation performance. It's not as complicated as it looks, as long as it's clear, it can also be very simple to use.

Who says automatic exposure is amateur? Making good use of automatic exposure can greatly improve the efficiency of photography.

Many friends who are beginners in photography ask some old photographers, and they are often told that it is really difficult for beginners to control the exposure temperature by setting the exposure parameters with full manual M-block. Some friends simply don't know what exposure is. In fact, the automatic exposure function of modern digital SLR cameras has been very useful. Not only the semi-automatic exposure mode of A-aperture priority mode and T-shutter priority mode can become the main gear of your daily photography, but even the aperture and shutter are automatic P-files, which can also be used in common exposure modes. Does this mean unprofessional? As long as you take good photos, who cares what exposure mode you use?

When is the M gear used? In fact, M-block is not a very common exposure mode, because automatic exposure is more reliable, and M-block only needs to be used in some specific scenes, such as shooting in a flash booth, shooting videos, shooting time-lapse photography, shooting long-exposure subjects, and so on. Generally, automatic exposure plus exposure compensation can satisfy the creation of most subjects.

Give a few examples:

1. When shooting portraits, use the A aperture priority mode plus exposure compensation, manually control the aperture to determine the depth of field, the shutter speed is automatically given by the camera, and then increase or decrease the exposure compensation appropriately according to the light conditions, and the sensitivity can also be set to automatic mode within a certain range.

2. When shooting a moving scene, use the T shutter priority mode plus exposure compensation, manually control the shutter speed, and control the shutter time at the moment of solidification blur. The camera will automatically balance the exposure to the aperture value, and then make exposure compensation for shooting. When a fixed time is needed, the sensitivity can be set higher, and when a fuzzy time is needed, the sensitivity can be set lower.

3. When taking commemorative photos, set the exposure mode to P, and the sensitivity will be automatic. Just take whatever you want. There's really no need to bother setting the exposure manually.

RAW format shooting can save a lot of setup steps.

Everyone says that amateurs can take photos with jpeg, and there is no need to choose lossless RAW format. Why do you suggest taking pictures in this format? Don't you need to convert the format? You really need to change the format, but you can save a lot of settings when shooting.

What does this mean?

As we all know, in addition to setting reasonable exposure and accurate focusing, it is also important that the color of the picture should be relatively accurate, or the color should be set to the atmosphere you need, which involves the setting of parameters such as white balance and photo color mode. If jpeg is used to shoot, the data information of the shot photos is compressed semi-finished products, and there is little room for modification. Therefore, the parameters such as white balance must be set as accurately as possible when shooting in the early stage. If the settings are wrong, it is difficult to correct the film in the later stage, and the RAW format does not need to worry about this problem at all.

If you shoot in RAW format, no matter what kind of white balance and color preset you choose, the photos you shoot will not be processed in the machine and retain the most original data, which depends entirely on your later adjustment. Even if the exposure is slightly wrong, it can be easily retrieved later, which on the contrary provides beginners with many opportunities for trial and error. When shooting in RAW format, you can ignore the color setting and shoot directly, and put the color adjustment in post-processing.

Learning the focus area and focus selection is more efficient than letting the camera automatically select the focus.

We should focus when taking pictures, but some novices don't know that the optical focus of SLR cameras can be selected manually, and most of them rely on the camera to automatically give the focus area, which may delay things. For example, you want to take your friend as the subject of the photo, but the focus of the camera is on the flowers in front of him, and many lenses are out of focus, which is very annoying. And if you know how to set the focus, in fact, a very simple operation can quickly determine the focus position, so that the focus is under your control every time you shoot, so that the efficiency of taking pictures is much higher.

Setting the focus of a SLR camera is also very simple. For models with a focus rocker, just use the rocker to select, just like playing a game machine. If you don't have a focus rocker, just activate focus, and then use the four buttons on the back of the camera to easily select focus.

Take a picture with a focal length.

One advantage of SLR cameras is that they can change lenses of different specifications. Lenses with different focal lengths, different aperture values and different performances can meet the creative needs of different photographers. But as a novice, if you use zoom lens directly, it is actually difficult to establish your "lens sense". Even if you use a zoom lens, we can try to create with a focal length, be familiar with the perspective, depth of field and perspective of this lens, and control the composition of this focal length before making changes. Taking pictures in this way, on the one hand, avoids the need to adjust the focal length frequently when shooting, and can't find a suitable composition rule, on the other hand, it can also exercise the photographic thinking of each focal segment.

In fact, it is not so difficult to get started with SLR cameras quickly. You only need to have a clear concept of exposure, focusing, focal length and other operational levels. Just like driving, you must figure out how to shift gears, how to coordinate the accelerator clutch, how to control the steering wheel, and form a series of correct operating habits before you can start your photography.
