The best virtual reality technology

The best VR technology includes real-time three-dimensional computer graphics, virtual scene display technology, head tracking technology, eye tracking technology, sound technology, sensory feedback technology and so on.

1, real-time three-dimensional computer graphics

If there is enough accurate model and enough time, using computer model to generate graphic images can generate accurate images of various objects under different lighting conditions, but the key here is real-time. For example, in the flight simulation system, image refresh is very important, and the requirements for image quality are also very high. Coupled with the very complex virtual environment, the problem becomes quite difficult.

2. Virtual scene display technology

Binocular stereo vision plays a very important role in virtual reality system. Different images seen by users' eyes are generated separately and displayed on different monitors. Some systems use a single monitor, but after the user wears special glasses, one eye can only see odd-numbered images, and the other eye can only see even-numbered images. The difference between odd-numbered frames and even-numbered frames, that is, parallax, produces a three-dimensional sense.

3. Head tracking technology

In the traditional computer graphics technology, the change of field of view is realized by mouse or keyboard, and the user's visual system and motion perception system are separated. By using head tracking to change the visual angle of the image, the user's visual system and motion perception system can be connected, and the feeling is more real.

4. Eye tracking technology

In fact, even the mobile phone VR box has the above-mentioned key hardware technology (the mobile phone simulates head tracking through a gyroscope), but eye tracking is still relatively rare in the VR field. Eye tracking technology is realized by tracking the pupil, and the algorithm can change the depth of field according to the gaze scene, thus bringing a better immersive experience.

5. Sound technology

People can judge the direction of sound source well. In the horizontal direction, the direction of sound is determined by the phase difference and intensity difference of sound, because the time or distance for sound to reach two ears is different. The common stereo effect is achieved by hearing different sounds recorded in different positions in the left and right ears, so there will be a sense of direction. In real life, when your head turns, the direction of the sound you hear will change. But at present, in VR system, the direction of sound has nothing to do with the movement of the user's head.

6. Sensory feedback technology

In the virtual reality system, users can see a virtual cup. The user can try to grab it, but the user's hand doesn't really touch the cup, and it may pass through the "surface" of the virtual cup, which is impossible in real life. The common device to solve this problem is to install some vibration contacts on the inner layer of gloves to simulate touch.
