Film Review of Drunk Night

One Night after Drunk combines comedy, suspense, love and other elements, and the plot is unexpected. It not only gives full play to the consistent cold humor and whimsy, but also continues the romantic drama style that Zeng Guoxiang and Jimmy Wan are good at, bringing the chemical effect between Hua Jingchu and Hong Kong actors into full play. The biggest highlight of the film is at the end. When the whole night is crazy, the hero and heroine return to their original desires. Shen Wei, the hero played by Shawn Yue, built a dream home for Tong Xin in the construction site building, which made many young audiences struggling in Beijing feel hurt and could not help crying. (Sina Entertainment Review) Although Peng Haoxiang claimed that the script of this movie was written several years before shooting, it still could not stop the audience from questioning that this movie imitated the Hollywood movie The Hangover in many plots. The similarity between the two stories is very high, which invisibly reduces the freshness of the film. The difference is that the prank that hurt friends in The Hangover turned into an encounter between a pair of strange men and women in The Night After Drunk. This difference directly led to the climax of the first "drunken night", and then the process of solving puzzles gradually became a bit boring.

As a co-production, the limitations of genre and theme bound Peng Haoxiang and the team. The whole film itself lacks originality because of too much reference, and it can only rely on the display of bizarre urban nightlife scenes to give the audience visual stimulation. There are only a few highlights in the film that can truly reflect the characteristics of Peng Haoxiang's works, such as "God beast alpaca".

A story that could have been crazier ended in a well-behaved "search" process. At this point, it is doomed that The Night After Drunk only stays in the simple imitation of the structure of The Hangover, and cannot reach the height of the audience's pleasure brought by The Hangover. The lack of original script makes this film a typical painting tiger instead of a dog. (Netease Entertainment Review)
