Is the high exposure of the photo out of sync with the flash and camera? I use Canon 60D.

There are three reasons for overexposure when using an external flash:

1。 Automatic gear shifting.

When the camera is in automatic mode, it will automatically adjust three parameters (shutter, aperture and sensitivity ISO) according to the detected ambient illumination, so that the brightness of the photo can reach normal. When using the body flash, the camera will reduce three parameters according to the intensity set by the flash, so that the picture will not be exposed. When using an external flash, as long as the flash is a compatible model (such as the original lamp), the setting intensity of the flash can be detected and adjusted accordingly. However, if the flash used is not within the compatible range (most third-party lights), then the camera can only flash and cannot detect the set power of the flash. At this time, the camera will not consider the addition of the flash when adjusting the three parameters, and the generated photos will be exposed by the flash.

2。 When it is in manual gear.

In the case of manual shift, all three parameters are manually adjusted, and the result is the result of manual adjustment. If the parameters are not set properly, the picture will be overexposed or underexposed. At this time, it is necessary to slowly adjust the parameters to achieve a balance with the flash.

3。 The flash is too close to the main body.

The illumination of the flash lamp is not only determined by the power, but also related to the distance. The closer the flash is to the subject, the stronger the illumination on the surface of the subject, and the subject is prone to overexposure at this time. Therefore, attention should be paid to controlling the distance of the flash when shooting, or adjusting the three parameters according to the situation.

It should be noted that when the illumination of the object irradiated by the flash is higher than the ambient illumination, the result on the screen is that the object is white and the background is black, which is often not very beautiful, so the balance between the illumination of the object and the environment should be considered when using the flash.
