If translated into Chinese, this word is minimalism.
Minimalism pursues simplicity to the extreme.
But in fact, there is a story behind the birth of minimalism:
After World War II, an art school called "minimalist art" appeared. The characteristic of this school is to attract the audience's attention by using the form of the object itself, especially by using some artistic conceptual images to create.
The purpose of this school of minimalism is to eliminate the oppression of the audience by minimalism.
All right, let's talk about people.
In fact, in photography, minimalism seems to me to be a sentence:
Less is more.
The less the better.
This is also my little trick today: less is more.
Let's take a look at the photos of my long-awaited photographer Gavin Dunbar:
I analyzed the simple artistic photos of this old artist, and then came to the following two conclusions:
1. Quiet (each photo has only one theme)
2. Influence (highlighting the static and dynamic state of the subject through composition)
Well, today I'm going to talk about four tips for taking this minimalist photo.
In the previous X-composition series of photography convenience stores, I mentioned three composition methods: central composition method, one-third method and vertical composition method.
These three methods are actually very practical for minimalist composition.
Of course, in addition to the combination of these composition methods, it is very important to pay attention to the "negative space" when shooting photos with minimalist style.
The so-called "negative space" can also be understood as blank.
For example:
Of course, leaving blank does not mean that everything left is white.
It can also be other colors, and the purpose of leaving blank is to make the picture unaffected by other elements that affect the picture outside the main body.
Keeping it simple doesn't mean keeping it boring.
In fact, colorful walls can be realized.
As we all know, one of the characteristics of geometric lines is the strong visual penetration effect.
For beginners who take photos in minimalist style, my suggestion is to take some contemporary buildings or some parts of them.
For example, this photo was taken on the escalator in the parking lot of the shopping center in front of my house the other day:
For another example, this photo appeared in the poster "How to Bring Up a High-profile and High-profile Photo", and I only photographed part of the exterior of a building:
Because contemporary architecture may have beautiful geometric lines inside and outside:
The point is, shoot that part. Instead of filming the whole building.
In minimalist photography, besides the black-and-white contrast color shot by Gavin Dunbar, other contrast colors can be used to highlight the theme.
For example, light blue and orange:
Like yellow and pink:
Of course, there is only one use of contrasting colors: attracting attention.
For example, this photo:
After simply removing the redundant flaws on the wall, it looks "simple":
I will teach you how to use mobile App and PS to remove stains in future sharing, so stay tuned.
Taking a simple style photo can start from the following four aspects:
1. Theme and composition/Theme and composition
2. Geometric lines/geometric lines
3. Contrast color/contrast color
4. Delete unnecessary elements/remove redundant elements
Finally, remember one thing: less is more.
