What is the length and width of a standard swimming pool?
The standard swimming pool is 50 meters long and 21 meters wide.
The national standard swimming pool is based on a length of 50m and a width of 21m, while the swimming pool of the World Championships requires a wider width of 25m. In addition, a swimming pool with a length of 25m is called a short pool, which is One of the common swimming competition events, the water depth of this type of swimming pool needs to be above 1.8m, and there are 8 swimming tracks. Each track is about 2.5m wide, and the edgemost lane needs to be widened by an additional 0.5m.
The size of the swimming pool can also be changed according to its own needs, as long as the depth remains unchanged. When filling water into the swimming pool, pay attention to adjusting the hardness of the water. The hardness of the water should be moderate. If the hardness of the water is too high, agglomerates will appear on the pool wall. If it is too low, the mortar on the pool wall will be eroded.
Swimming Pool Detailed Design
(1) Swimming lane: Hooks embedded in the pool wall should be set at the horizontal surfaces at both ends of the competition pool. The lane lines are made of white round cork, rubber tubes or round wooden rods with a diameter of 50-70mm. Both ends of the lane lines are painted red within 5m from the pool wall to make it easy for athletes to identify them before they reach the end of the pool.
(2) Starting platform: The size of the starting platform is 450mm × 450mm. It is tilted forward about 15 degrees. The front edge is aligned with the edge of the pool. The surface should be treated with anti-slip treatment. The front edge of the starting platform is 300-750mm away from the water, and there should be numbers indicating the order of the swimming lanes around it. The starting platform can also be equipped with a handshake for backstroke starting.
(3) Overflow tank: The overflow tank is located on the walls around the swimming pool to remove debris floating on the water. The competition pool can be set up only on two sides. The bottom of the tank should have a slope to allow water to flow to the drain outlet. The edge thickness of the overflow tank is preferably about 70mm.
(4) Climbing ladders and steps: Climbing ladders are located on both sides of the swimming pool and should not protrude from the pool wall. The number is determined by the length of the pool. One ladder can be installed every 25m. Steps can also be used instead of ladders.
(5) Underwater observation window: In a swimming pool used for athlete training, an underwater observation window can be set up on the wall of the pool for coaches to observe athletes’ underwater movements and take photos. One or several underwater observation windows can be installed according to conditions.
