Has the rescue submarine LR7 been delivered to China?
According to the British "Herald" reported in September 12, a new type of deep-diving lifeboat built by a well-known British company for the China Navy has recently started its trial in the underwater center of Fort William in western Scotland. The completion and service of this boat will promote China's underwater rescue capability to a new height.
Technical and tactical performance is leading the world.
Fort William Underwater Center, located at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Britain, is a world-class commercial submarine testing and training base. Now, the staff of the base are starting the crane and carefully putting a small submarine with a strange shape into the water. This is the fist product of Perry Slingsby Systems, UK-LR7 deep diving lifeboat.
The total length of LR7 is 25 feet (about 7.6 meters), and it can dive more than 12 hour at a depth of 300 meters. There are three spherical cabins connected horizontally in the boat, the front cabin is the cab, and the middle cabin and the rear cabin are used for life saving. When carrying out the task, the orientation of the wrecked submarine is first determined by the spherical transparent cover at the bow, and then docked with the latter through the skirt cover under the hull, so that the personnel on the wrecked submarine can be safely transferred to the lifeboat. According to the design index, LR7 can rescue all kinds of nuclear submarines and conventional submarines in bad sea conditions, and can carry at most 18 people in distress at a time.
LR7 has the highest performance of its kind, said Kevin Taylor, general manager of Slingsby Company, which was successfully developed in close cooperation with China Navy. It is understood that during the three-week test, the boat will carry out simulated rescue and pilot training. After that, the factory will install some auxiliary equipment for it and hand it over to the end users.
LR series deep diving lifeboats are not only equipped with British navy, but also exported to France, South Korea and other countries. This time, it was able to bypass the EU arms sales ban and enter the China market, mainly because of its dual-use nature. In addition, considering that China's existing submarine rescue technology is not backward, the British government has not blocked this contract on the grounds of "possible disclosure of technical secrets".
China is a powerful submarine rescue country.
The continuous improvement of the performance of military submarines is the main driving force for the progress of submarine rescue technology. In this field, the United States and Russia have the most abundant technical reserves, and European countries such as Britain, Norway and Italy also have their own strengths. In August 2000, the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk sank in the Barents Sea; At that time, the rescue work included the British LR5 deep diving lifeboat (the predecessor of LR7).
Shortly after the birth of the new China Navy, the army-building policy of "flying, diving and fast" (aircraft, submarines and speedboats) was determined, and submarine rescue technology was therefore attached importance. In 2005, Wen Wei Po pointed out that China navy was equipped with special submarine rescue ships in 1970s. After 1980s, a salvage ship equipped with advanced equipment such as side-scan sonar, underwater TV and ultrasonic flaw detection was built. At the same time, Qingdao Naval Submarine Academy also has an underwater rescue drill room, where tens of thousands of people have received escape training, with a success rate of 100%.
China Navy has also gained a lot in the research and development of professional life-saving equipment. Wen Wei Po revealed that the first generation of domestic deep-diving lifeboats had been successfully tried as early as 1986. The boat has an underwater photography system and a manipulator. It is carried by a large salvage ship and can work at a depth of 200 meters. In recent years, various types of submersible robots have been put into active service, which has significantly enhanced the ability of China Navy to carry out search and rescue in high-risk environment.
Some analysts pointed out that compared with the existing equipment in China, LR7 submersible lifeboat has the advantage of being small and flexible, and can quickly reach the accident site by rail or air, which is very important for underwater rescue against every second. The addition of this boat will make a beneficial supplement to the submarine rescue system of China Navy and provide a better guarantee for China's submarine forces to go to the ocean.
