How to make your photos feel more?

Many friends who are new to portrait photography will put most of their thoughts and attention on shooting technology. Such as composition, lighting, model posture and so on. Of course, it is necessary to master and master the basic technology. However, when we have mastered the basic technology, how can we improve our shooting skills?

We often say that a photo is rich? Feeling? In fact, that is to say, the picture has a strong atmosphere, a sense of plot and story, which solidified the moment and conveyed the atmosphere. Next, I will share some experiences with you, about how to shoot those who have? Feeling? Photos of.

First, determine the theme.

Whether shooting guest films or subjective creations, it is very necessary to define the shooting theme, especially portrait shooting. The theme can come from the photographer's inspiration at a moment, from the photographer's personality, and from capturing the picture and atmosphere of a movie, a song and a memory. On the premise of defining the theme, the photographer and the model discuss with each other to make it concrete and visual, and form a shooting theme that both sides understand.

Second, the preparation of clothing and equipment

Before shooting, the choice of clothes and scenes is also very important. Clothing and scenes directly affect the emotional expression and atmosphere rendering of the whole theme, so clothing and scenes should conform to the theme.

Commonly used clothes such as trench coats, scarves and long skirts help to reflect emotions. For example, choosing an amusement park as the shooting scene, in order to match the cheerful atmosphere of the scene, you need to choose some clothes full of joy and bright colors; When shooting an old street or an old alley, you can choose clothes with a little style, such as cheongsam and long skirt, which are integrated with the retro scene.

As for the equipment, I am used to using the body of Canon EOS5Ds and EF 50 mm F/ 1.4USM ... Canon EOS 5DS has excellent image quality of 500 million pixels, and it leaves more space and possibility for image cropping. The large aperture and sharpness of the fixed-focus lens are particularly suitable for shooting portraits, especially 50mm, which is basically the standard lens for shooting portraits.

Thirdly, scene substitution and guidance during shooting.

At the beginning of shooting, the communication and reference in the early stage began to play a role. Some subjects may have no shooting experience, and they will inevitably be at a loss in the face of strange photographers and unfamiliar environments. At this time, photographers need professional communication skills and some guidance for models. However, blindly directing the movements and arranging the order will only make the model more nervous and pose more artificial. The author suggests that, first of all, you might as well be a quiet recorder. Portrait shooting is to record the short life of the subject. In this short life, you can choose to let him smile in front of the camera, get up and take a few steps, or you can choose to let him continue his busy work, and you can take shorthand from the side. You just need to set up the picture and organize the light in that 3*2 frame. Secondly, you can share an interesting topic with the subject, shoot like a chat, and share truth and sincerity with each other. Photographers will be curious and enthusiastic questioners, and with the deepening of the topic, record those wonderful expressions that are quasi-fleeting.

When shooting the above picture, the author took out his mobile phone to show the reference picture prepared in the early stage, and then shared a short story about love with her, which made her feel that she was slowly getting into the play and made up a role-playing to give the subject a sense of substitution. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the surrounding environment, dim lights on the roadside, hurried crowds, even a song and a paragraph of text can make the model enter the state faster.

Fourth, the wonderful use of light and composition.

Light and composition are two very important links in photography creation. Light is the soul of photography and the most essential element of photographic works. Composition is directly related to how to choose and shoot the selected object. A good photographic work can make the viewer's eyes notice the subject at the first time without hesitation. Before you press the shutter every time, you should carefully consider these two elements and combine them through a lot of shooting practice.

Flexible use of natural light or artificial light in the scene can make an ordinary photo no longer ordinary. Excellent photographers will feel the direction and texture of light and shadow, and will always make good use of light. Morning and afternoon are mild oblique light, and the contrast of light in this period is small, and the color is warm and uniform, which can bring out a very expressive light and shadow atmosphere. About two hours before and after noon, the contrast of the top light is too big. Usually there is no detail in the dark part, and the bright part is dead white. Unless it is a special subject of calendering, it is usually recommended to avoid such a period.

On the basis of paying attention to the above principles of light use, if the camera's color temperature function is used again and the appropriate white balance is adjusted, the effect will be better. For example, on a sunny day, I will set the color temperature around 4700K~5200K, which is probably close to the actual white balance color temperature seen by the naked eye, but such an image is boring, so I will slightly increase the color temperature to around 5500 K ~ 6000 K to present a warmer tone. If you want to express the feeling of cool color, the color temperature k number should be lowered below 4500K K k.

There are many techniques for portrait composition, such as triangle composition, simple and generous horizontal composition and frame composition, which are intriguing. Pay more attention when shooting and choose different composition methods according to different scenes. Sometimes in order to highlight the story of the picture, shallow depth of field composition method will be chosen more. If you want to get a shallow depth of field and blur the background, the most convenient way is to put the camera close to the model under the condition that the distance between the subject and the background remains the same, so that you can easily get the effect of shallow depth of field, the person is more prominent, the background is naturally blurred, and the picture sense of the photo is enhanced. Attention should be paid to avoid messy scenes in the foreground when shooting, because the foreground picture will be extremely clear when shooting at close range.

5. Clever use of live props to set off the environment.

Ambient atmosphere is very important for taking pictures with plots. When shooting in different environments, you will always encounter unexpected props and scenes. If it fits the shooting theme, let the model interact with the environment more and enhance the story sense of the picture. Empty seats and streets after the rain are sharp tools to set off the atmosphere.

Excellent portrait photography can see the joys and sorrows of the characters in the picture. Every photo is like a captured movie picture, which is intriguing. Therefore, you should watch more films, think more, and often take pictures to improve your shooting ability.
