What does backlighting mean?

Backlight refers to a specific way of photography, that is, the photographer does not provide visual clues to the sun, but shoots with his back to the sun.

First, shooting skills

Backlight shooting scenes often have high contrast, especially when shooting objects with shadow patterns, which will bring a strong artistic sense to the picture. In addition, this kind of picture is easier to create a soft atmosphere, which is conducive to expressing some emotions and making photos more acceptable.

In order to shoot the perfect backlight effect, the photographer needs to master certain skills, such as setting the lens range correctly, predicting the position and length of the shadow correctly, and determining the best shooting angle. At the same time, photographers also need to master the change of light source, which is related to how the change of light affects the effect of backlight shooting.

In addition, the photographer also needs to correctly grasp the exposure of the camera, such as grasping the ambiguity through the shutter speed, adjusting the color depth with ISO sensitivity, and reasonably adjusting the white balance setting of the camera, which are all very important.

Second, the side backlight

The side backlight is located between the side light and the backlight, and the light source of the side backlight is at the 45-degree position of the linear backlight, that is, 90 degrees is the side light, 45 degrees is the side light, and 180 degrees is the backlight.

Side backlighting is also a very attractive way to shoot. Compared with backlight shooting, side backlight is easier to control in exposure. Side backlighting can make the shot scene appear concave and convex, full of three-dimensional sense. Generally, side backlight is used to represent tough objects, such as shooting stone houses, stone arch bridges and other objects.

Photographic terminology:

Guang Shun 1

Smooth light is the most commonly used light in our photography. The so-called smooth light means that the light shines on the subject from the front, and the direction of the light is consistent with the direction pointed by the lens. Smooth light is the simplest and easiest light to successfully take photos (to make the exposure accurate).

The advantage of smoothing is that it can completely show the details of the shooting picture, and the whole picture is clear and bright. The disadvantage is that the contrast is small, the picture is plain and ordinary, and the audience is not impressed.

2. Indirect explanation

Side light means that light passes through the shooting direction 90, that is, from the lens side 90 and shines on the subject. Side lighting can make the subject's light and shade very obvious and layered, and the audience feels good.

Compared with forward exposure, it is a bit difficult to shoot with side light. We can shoot with spot metering, and then get a satisfactory work by increasing or decreasing the exposure compensation operation.
