In 1936, Yinglie was admitted to the military medical school. He systematically studied the theories of Western medicine and internal medicine, and also studied Chinese medicine by himself. In 1940, after graduation, Yinglie was assigned to serve as a military doctor in the then Third Military District of Manchuria. The following year, Yinglie's uncle who was Puyi's imperial physician passed away. According to Puyi's instructions, he was required to be replaced by a member of the clan who was proficient in medicine as soon as possible.

Yinglie is responsible for giving Puyi a health consultation once a week, and always listens to the call of the palace attendants. Every time he diagnosed Puyi, Yinglie did his duty conscientiously. When prescribing medicine, he was even more careful, for fear of making any mistakes.

Every time he wrote a prescription, Puyi had to take a look personally. Once Puyi got a cold, Yinglie gave him a prescription of Chinese medicine. After Puyi read it, he added two traditional Chinese medicines to the original prescription. After taking the medicine, Puyi's illness quickly recovered. Only then did he realize that Puyi was actually proficient in medical skills.

Pu Yi's younger brother Pu Jie was very fond of Ying Lie's medical skills and his kind-hearted person. Whenever he felt unwell, he would call him over. During their interactions, Ying Lie and Pu Jie formed a profound friendship.

After several years of "palace" life, Yinglie won everyone's respect with his superb medical skills. Even Puyi, who had always been strict and harsh, changed his previous attitude. At that time, no matter which minister was sick, Puyi would send Ying Lie to diagnose and treat him.

The puppet Manchukuo regime collapsed in an instant. Many people in the "palace" deserted, but Yinglie still stayed in the "palace" because Puyi's mental state was very bad. Soon Yinglie returned to his hometown in Qingyuan, Liaoning from Changchun with his wife and children.

Ying Lie ended several years of "palace" life and felt more relaxed than ever before. The first patient who returned to the county town was the mother of the county police chief. She suffered from chronic pulmonary tuberculosis and had to consult numerous doctors, but her illness did not improve. Yinglie treated the old man for half a month and finally cured her illness. From then on, Ying Lie became famous in his hometown, and people knew that there was another figure with extraordinary medical skills in the declining royal family.

At that time, many people came to him for medical treatment. The ups and downs of life made him look down on fame and fortune in the world, so treating patients was more important than anything else. In the process of seeing a doctor, he will not charge any money for any patient who encounters difficulties in life. Two years later, Ying Lie opened his own clinic in the county seat, and the business was good.

After the liberation of Northeast China, the public security organs carried out detailed registration of all people with special status, and Yinglie was also subject to special inspection. In April 1950, Yinglie was imprisoned in Fushun War Prison, where he remained for 29 long years.
