Ultrabooks that are usually used, such as YOGA11S, only have 128G solid-state disks, which directly access the data on NAS through the network, so 128G solid-state disks are enough.

my NAS bought HP's N54L microSERVER, and I installed it myself. Strong performance, real-time transcoding is no problem. The IPAD1 is equipped with a DS VIDEO client, which can play movies on the server smoothly. I put the IPAD on the treadmill, so I can watch movies while running.

I currently use two WL-5W routers, and I plan to upgrade them. I will buy ASUS AC66

My suggestion:

The routing ability is very limited, so don't let the routers do too much work. It is better to buy a N54L server with more than 1 routers than to spend about 15, and its performance and stability are not an order of magnitude.

don't expect too much from the wireless network. Although I haven't used 82.11ac for the time being, according to feedback from netizens, its speed and coverage are not so ideal. Therefore, wired network is very necessary.

be sure to configure a gigabit switch, because the gigabit network port of the router is definitely not enough. As a matter of fact, at present, the connection speed of the external network is at most 1 megabits, which is definitely not up to Gigabit. Therefore, it is not too important whether the router has a Gigabit wired network port. It is good for the switch to build the Gigabit environment of the local area network. If you want to experience 82.11ac, you can consider buying Xiaomi's simple version of the routing, which costs one or two hundred yuan. It supports the 82.11ac standard and has only two LAN ports, but this can be extended by gigabit switches.

if you are worried about peeking at your movies next door, you should think more about wireless network encryption and MAC binding, instead of encrypting your local hard disk. Moreover, for high-definition movies, the code rate is high, and the wireless network signal can hardly be put up, so don't worry about peeking next door.
