The principle of formation of colored shadows

Principle of formation of colored shadows:

Experimental instructions

Light travels in a straight line under normal circumstances. If there is something opaque where the light shines, Block the light and shadows will be produced. If we use many light sources, and the light produced by these light sources is of different colors, then the light sources at each different position will produce shadows in different places, and the overlapping parts in the middle will produce colored shadows!

Experimental equipment

Several flashlights, cellophane of different colors, rubber bands, and cardboard.

Tips: There must be at least 2 flashlights, and the brightness should be about the same. If you only use the same flashlight and replace it with different colors of cellophane, the experimental effect will be worse!

Experimental steps

1. Draw the color shadow you want to create on cardboard. It can be some common shapes or letters.

2. After drawing, cut it out, leaving folded legs. Leave the folded legs to turn it into a standing picture card.

3. Cut cellophane of different colors.

4. Cover the flashlight and secure it with a rubber band.

Tips: Some cellophanes are lighter in color. You can fold the cellophane into two or three layers and then cover it on the flashlight.

5. Turn off the lights and use flashlights of different colors to illuminate the prepared picture cards.

6. Change the flashlight of different colors and observe the color changes of the shadows of each part.

7. Change the position of the flashlight slightly and look at the overlapping shadows. How does the color change?
