Died of illness at the age of 83. Li Wenhua (1929-June 19, 2012), born in Luanping County, Hebei Province, is a photographer, director, and screenwriter in Mainland China. In 1959, he served as the cinematographer for the feature film "Grain", which was his first work as a cinematographer. In 1963, he served as the cinematographer for the drama film "Early Spring in February". In 1970, he served as the photographer for the war movie "Red Detachment of Women." In 1972, Li Wenhua turned from photographer to director and directed his first film "Scout". In 1976, he directed the feature film "Counterattack". In 1979, he directed the feature film "Trail of Tears", which won the 3rd Popular Film Hundred Flowers Award for Best Feature Film and the Chinese Ministry of Culture's Outstanding Film Award. In 1983, he wrote and directed the feature film "The Legend of Clay Figures". In 1987, he directed the martial arts movie "The Golden Dart". In 1993, the drama film "Dragon Phoenix" directed by him was released. In 2010, he published the autobiographical book "Shadows of the Past: Li Wenhua's Film Life". At 17:20 on June 19, 2012, Li Wenhua passed away due to illness at the age of 83.
