What is conceptual art?

Conceptual art is about ideas and meanings. This art takes various forms: daily necessities, photos, maps, videos, charts, and especially the language itself. These forms are often combined.

The western art school Idea Art rose in the mid-1960s. Abandon the creation of artistic entities, and adopt the methods of directly conveying ideas, using objects, photos and language to highlight some life scenes in the audience's mind and spirit. The aesthetic pursuit of conceptual art is mainly manifested in two aspects: one is to record the process of artistic image from conception to creation, so that the audience can grasp the artist's thinking track; Secondly, the audience is forced to change their appreciation habits and participate in artistic creation activities through sound, images or objects. Language is the material medium of thought. The initial expression style of conceptual art is closely related to language. This is a statement that can be repeated countless times. Later, inspired by M Duchamp's finished urinal "Spring" exhibition, conceptual artists began to diversify their means of expression. As long as the creator subjectively thinks it is art, it can be displayed as a work of art.
