The new Yunnan Provincial Library is located on the west bank of the scenic Cuihu Lake, covering an area of 1.23 million square meters, with a total construction area of 29,328 square meters. The main building has 2 1 floor and the podium has 5 floors, with a designed collection of 4.4 million books. The overall layout of the new museum is divided into three sections, the front section is green belt, covering an area of more than 4000 square meters. Based on the original big trees and precious tree species, the new museum is planned in a garden-like way, combined with the topography of the "Ximahe" site of the former Army Jiangwutang, with winding stone paved paths and small bridges hidden by flowing water, creating a fresh and elegant environment for readers. The middle part is the square in front of the building, covering an area of about 2000 square meters. The surface of the square is covered with bluestone tablets, a specialty of Yunnan Shilin. Simple and elegant, it not only plays a natural transition role between green space and library building, but also sets off the grandeur of the building. The back section is the main building of the library building, surrounded by fire truck passages, with a total area of about 6,000 square meters. The three parts naturally transition and blend into one. On the first floor of the new building, there are auxiliary rooms such as academic lecture hall, multi-function hall, exhibition hall, classroom and reader service department. The second floor to the fifth floor is the borrowing area, with a general borrowing and returning office, a general catalogue hall, and Chinese and foreign books, newspapers, electronic documents, reference books and rare books.

Located on the second floor of the podium, the General Catalog Library is the retrieval center for readers to find the information resources in the collection, including multimedia reading guidance system, card catalog area, book catalog area, computer catalog area and catalog retrieval consulting service desk. Manual access and machine access coexist, and readers can choose familiar ways to search the catalogue.

The general loan and return office is located on the second floor of the main building (north of the general catalogue hall), which is responsible for the loan and return procedures of foreign books and periodicals in the closed circulation library of the main building, and can also carry out interlibrary loan business. The borrowing and returning procedures of other books and periodicals are handled in each open-shelf lending room.

Hall theme relief: Natural red sandstone relief is combined with modern brass hanging carving and cloisonne inlaid cloisonne enamel technology in China in the form of western art montage. The whole picture is divided into three areas by using the trajectory of the stars and mathematical geometric lines, and Chinese characters (movable type printing), time and space, heavenly stems and earthly branches, nine planets, formulas, symbols, classical philosophy and celebrity portraits are integrated into them to form.

The stacks in the new library are divided into closed shelves and open shelves according to the layout of the collections. The closed stacks are located on the 8th floor to19th floor of the main building, and each floor covers an area of about 600 square meters, including Chinese and foreign books, sample books and rare books of ancient books. Chinese and foreign books and periodicals are mainly books and periodicals with low circulation rate and weak timeliness, which can be borrowed through the general lending and returning office or read through the reference reading room; Books in the sample stacks can be read through the reference reading room; Books in the rare books library can be read through the rare books reading room.

Books and periodicals in the open-shelf reading room are for reading only and cannot be borrowed. In order to meet the requirements of readers' reading by subject, open-shelf reading rooms are divided into 1 1 reading rooms, such as newspaper reading room, current issue reading room, new book exhibition reading room, reference book reading room, Chinese retrieval reference book reading room, foreign language periodical reading room, foreign language retrieval reading room, local literature reading room, historical literature reading room, modern publication reading room, donated book showroom, etc.

Open shelf lending room

The open-shelf lending room is equipped with an auxiliary library, which contains books and periodicals with high utilization rate and strong timeliness in the past five years. These books and periodicals can be read or borrowed. The open-shelf lending room is divided into six reading rooms: social science back issue lending room, self-taught journals lending room, Chinese social science lending room, Chinese self-taught exam lending room, literature lending room and foreign language lending room.

Electronic reading room

Located on the third floor of the main building, equipped with 80 computers, the computer desk is combined with screens, so that readers have relatively independent personal space and do not interfere with each other. Readers can consult the literature in the library and find the information they need online.

Multimedia reading room

Located on the fourth floor of the main building, there are 80 computers, and the computer desk with screen combination is also used to form a relatively independent personal space. Readers can read multimedia information such as images, characters, animation, voice, sound, movies, television and so on, and conduct audio-visual materials research. Rare book reading room: located on the fifth floor of the main building, it is connected with the rare book library through the book ladder, where readers can read rare books of ancient books.

Reference reading room

Located on the fifth floor of the main building, it is connected with the closed stacks through the book ladder, where readers can read the books and materials of the sample stacks and Chinese and foreign stacks.

Independent reading room

Two independent reading rooms are specially set up on the fourth floor of the podium of the new library for readers to bring their own books into the library, and some necessary reference books are available in the reading rooms for readers to consult.

Readers salon

Located on the twentieth floor of the main building, the environment is elegant and comfortable. After reading, readers can exchange their reading experiences with each other, and they can also enjoy the scenery of Cuihu Lake and the city with many tall buildings.

Located on the podium on the first floor, with 354 seats, equipped with professional lighting and audio equipment and projection equipment, it can hold various academic reports, seminars and lectures. The seat is equipped with a tablet computer, which is convenient for participants to take notes. It can also be used as movies, projections, slide shows and small performances.

multifunctional hall

Located on the first floor of the podium, with an area of 250 square meters, equipped with lighting, audio and projection equipment, it can receive medium-sized meetings of 120 people. When the tables and chairs are removed, they can play a flexible role.

exhibition room

Located on the first floor of the main building, with an area of 380 square meters, it can undertake small and medium-sized cultural and artistic exhibitions and popular science exhibitions such as calligraphy, art and photography. There are independent entrances and exits.

Big classroom

Located on the first floor of the podium, the seat is 168, and the seat is an electric telescopic stepping seat with national patent technology.
