The Square Features of Sophia Square
Hagia Sophia is a famous landmark in Harbin, which was built in March 1907. It was originally an embedded church of the Fourth Infantry Division in Eastern Siberia, Russia. The site was rebuilt on September 1923 and completed on October 25th 1932+065438. The completed Hagia Sophia church is deeply influenced by Byzantine architectural style, and is a typical representative of modern European architecture in Harbin, with high artistic and historical value.
"Sofia" means "the wisdom of the gods", named after the church, which means to worship the god of wisdom. The church adopts centralized architectural form and arch coupon structure under the big dome. It well designed the church plane as an east-west Latin cross, and the walls were all made of smooth red bricks. The central main building is crowned with a huge onion-shaped dome, and tents of different sizes are built on its four wings. "Onion Dome" and "Tent Roof" are recognized as important symbols of Russian architecture. Therefore, this exquisite Byzantine architecture has developed with the cultural traditions, humanistic customs and environmental characteristics of different regions.
The layout of the church is a Latin cross, with clear overall focus and well-organized shape. The appearance consists of a huge "onion" dome, which commands the top of four different tents and has a master-slave relationship. The church is 53.35 meters high, covers an area of 72 1 square meter, and has a building area of 960 square meters. It is the largest Orthodox church in the Far East. 1986, Hagia Sophia Church is listed as a first-class protected building in Harbin. 1996165438+10, which was listed as the national key cultural relics protection unit. From 65438 to 0997, the Harbin municipal government protected, repaired and comprehensively improved the buildings and surrounding environment of Hagia Sophia, reappearing its former elegance. In September of the same year, with the approval of the Harbin Municipal Government, it was named Harbin Architectural Art Museum, as an important window to publicize and display Harbin's history, culture and architectural art. There was an exhibition of old photos of Harbin in the museum, which vividly showed the development process of Harbin from a small fishing village to an international metropolis with the reputation of "Oriental Moscow" and "Oriental Little Paris" with a large number of precious historical pictures, videos and objects. People can get many shadows of old Harbin here and feel the distant past of this city.
The new Jewish synagogue was built in 19 18, with a total height of 23.59 meters, an area of 1296 square meters and a building area of 2,400 square meters. It is the largest existing synagogue in China. "Gaze-Architectural Art Exhibition" and "Jews in Harbin-Historical and Cultural Exhibition" are on display in the museum.
In 2004, the Harbin municipal government carried out overall protection and restoration of the hall building, making it a new characteristic landscape of the city. The Gaze-Architectural Art Exhibition held on the first floor of the Jewish New Church shows the colorful architectural art and outstanding achievements of Harbin's urban construction through painting, photography, models and prints. The "Harbin Jewish History and Culture Exhibition" held on the second and third floors vividly displayed Jewish culture with a large number of precious pictures, videos and objects, and witnessed the friendship between China and Judah.
Harbin Architectural Art Square covers an area of 22,000 square meters and has undergone three renovations and expansions. It is a large-scale comprehensive square integrating sightseeing, leisure and entertainment, catering and shopping, activities and gatherings. There are many European landscape buildings around the square, such as Hagia Sophia church, art brick gallery, steel tower gallery, Arc de Triomphe and so on. There are large musical fountains, cascading waterscapes and large European-style "lampstands" in the square, and the "flame" will be lit every important festival. At the same time, the square is also equipped with three high-power snow machines, which can create a unique "snow spring" in winter.
