What elements does a successful DV short film need? Which point is the most important!

The first two things you must have are equipment and creativity. The equipment includes a DV camera, a computer with video editing software, which can collect images through the IEEE 1394 interface (also called FireWire, Sony registered as i.Link), and of course there are some simple auxiliary equipment, which we will mention later. Creativity can be varied, but first of all, we must be sure whether we want to shoot a drama, a documentary, an experimental work, an MTV or a feature film. This paper mainly discusses the shooting of DV drama. We need to draw up a more detailed story outline (also called story outline). So we officially entered—

Shooting preparation stage

1. Literary script

The first thing we have to do is to prepare the script. The outline of the story has been sorted out. As a creator, you are quite satisfied with the story, so you began to modify it into a literary script. There are various forms of literary scripts, such as picture style, novel style and so on.

2. Split-shot manuscript

This is the work that needs to be done immediately. The split-shot draft is generally rewritten by the director himself on the basis of the literary script. The so-called split shot, our simple understanding is to rewrite all the contents of the literary script into shots and describe them with the details of the shots. In this way, when shooting on the spot, we don't have to think about how to shoot the literary script temporarily. We just need to consult the sub-lens manuscript and shoot according to its instructions.

3. Cast members

Film and television art itself is an art of collective cooperation, which requires the cooperation of various crew departments to complete the creation. For the shooting of DV movies, the number of people depends on the difference in capital and artistic and technical level. Director, actor, assistant director, photographer, photography assistant, audience seating, on-site notes, production director, lighting, recording, makeup, clothing, props, etc. , are ordinary people in a big crew. When we make DV movies, the number of people can be reduced a lot. For example, directors can take part-time photography, and actors can make up their own makeup. But we think that apart from the director (photographer) and the actor, it is very important to have an assistant, who can also take on the role of recording (the role of recording is very important, which we will mention below) and do a lot of coordination work. So as long as there are directors (photographers), actors and journalists, a simple DV film crew can be formed.

The focus is on actors. Actors are easy to find. They can be your classmates, friends, colleagues, relatives, students, businessmen and freelancers. An actor is not easy to find, because he or she must conform to the characters in your script. The actor's performance may affect the overall style of our film, so we should be very careful when choosing. We don't despise every actor, because seemingly ordinary people may contain rich expressive force; We won't trust any actor easily, unless you have actually seen the video of his or her performance. This is the principle.
