Beth Moon is a photographer from Los Angeles, USA. She is passionate about photographing trees, especially ancient trees. So, she travels around the world taking photos of the world's most impressive ancient trees. By doing so, she hopes people will protect and care for these ancient trees.

Moon started doing this when she was 14 years old. At that time, she was living in England. She saw an ancient yew tree in the countryside and she was fascinated. After that, she visited small islands, woods, mountains and rivers in the United States, Europe, East Asia, the Middle East and Africa, photographing the oldest trees on earth. This is very difficult. To get the best photos, she needed to plan ahead. “I had to think carefully about the best season to photograph each tree. Some places can only be visited at certain times of the year,” she says.

Recently, her photos have been turned into a book called Ancient Trees: Portraits of Time. 60 black and white photos take readers into a wonderful world of trees.
