In Beloved Van Gogh, loneliness is also a kind of strength.
The special feature of Beloved Van Gogh is that it takes seven years to make a 95-minute animated feature film, and the whole film consists of more than 6, oil paintings created by more than 1 artists from all over the world.
The director is a painter and filmmaker. When she put forward this idea, others thought it was impossible. There are 12 frames per second, and each frame is a beautiful "Van Gogh" painting. Such a huge project is unimaginable, but she feels that only in this way can we match the respect for Van Gogh.
Van Gogh's life was simple and lonely. He was born in the Netherlands in 1853. He was a serious, silent and kind child since he was a child. Before becoming a "professional" painter, he also worked as a handyman, an art dealer and a priest, and had three short and failed love experiences. He had a younger brother, Theo, who was the only best friend and spiritual pillar in his life. One day in 189, in a wheat field, after a gunshot, Van Gogh ended his life for 37 years.
In his short life, Van Gogh has created more than 2, paintings, among which the series of Starry Sky, Sunflower and his self-portrait have long been "familiar" and have been cited in various works and designs.
Van Gogh painted many sunflowers, the most famous of which is Fifteen Sunflowers. These sunflowers were given to Gauguin, a painter who had a friendship with him. At that time, Van Gogh wanted to form an organization similar to the "painting society" and sent invitations to many painters. However, only Gauguin accepted the invitation to paint and live with Van Gogh. They were attracted to each other and appreciated each other, but this state only lasted for more than a month, and then opinions were divided.
From then on, his mental condition became more and more serious, and he finally lived in a mental hospital. During this period, he created more powerful works. From these works, Van Gogh remained awake all the time, and Starry Night was his representative work at this low point in his life.
I don't know how to "correctly" appreciate the works of art. I just "appreciate" Van Gogh's paintings from the perspective of "layman", and I get a direct feeling: inexplicable comfort. If I try to pay attention to the works that can bring "comfort", whether it is photography, painting or film and television works, or even website design, I will find that one of the sources of "comfort" is that the color collocation is very gentle.
However, Van Gogh boldly used the true colors of pigments. The abrupt and dazzling colors of red, rhubarb, blue and purple are perfectly blended in his paintings. He was not controlled by "pigments" but "vented" what he "saw" on the canvas. Perhaps he saw through himself and the world, so he could create so freely.
Van Gogh's paintings were not understood before his death, and his life was full of loneliness. Loneliness has never been seen by the society. However, loneliness is the same topic that we were born to be human. It has nothing to do with whether you are accompanied or not. It has nothing to do with where you are. Loneliness is not loneliness, let alone boredom, but a "date" between you and yourself.
many people say that "genius is always not understood by most people", but it is very likely that "most people" have not understood themselves, how can they understand others?
In a letter that Van Gogh sent to his brother Theo, he wrote:
When I draw a sun, I hope people feel that it is spinning at an alarming speed, and it is emitting terrible light and heat waves.
when I draw a wheat field, I hope people feel that the wheat is working towards their final maturity and blooming.
when I draw an apple tree, I hope people can feel that the juice in the apple is spreading the skin of the apple, and the seeds in the core are struggling to bear fruit.
when I draw a man, I have to draw his gushing life.
If there is nothing infinite, profound and real in my life, I will no longer be attached to the world ...
It is not money and material that make us who we are, but our spiritual world is telling others what we are.
