Photographic notes 14- What is white balance? How to use it?

The function of white balance is to restore the true color of the shooting scene.

Some people say, how can the color of the scene be untrue? In fact, this situation is very common. For example, at sunset, the sea is yellow, but is the sea yellow? No, it's caused by ambient light.

So how to adjust the white balance? There are four ways.

1, adjust the color temperature k, the difficulty of this mode is that you have to judge the color temperature of the current scene ~ basically give up;

2, scene mode: the camera does not know the temperature of the ambient light source, so there are many built-in scene modes, which can basically meet most of the photographer's shooting needs. For example, incandescent mode and shadow mode, but the trouble is to reset the white balance scene mode before each shooting;

3, custom white balance: it is still very troublesome to carry a gray card with you, or find something in the scene that allows the camera to correctly judge the ambient light for the camera as a reference;

4, automatic white balance: the photographer's gospel, the camera will automatically judge the ambient color temperature, try to restore the true color, especially convenient. It will be inaccurate in extreme environment, such as extremely high color temperature and extremely low color temperature, or manual setting is needed.
