Film Review of Fang Thirteen

This is a youth drama that reflects teenagers' rebellion. Different from the youth comedy represented by Meituan, this film more cruelly reproduces the pain and confusion encountered by teenagers in adolescence. This low-budget film, which cost less than $2 million, shined brilliantly in 2003. After the film was released, the major media in the United States played a rare high average score of A-. It is worth mentioning that the screenwriter Nikki Reed is only 14 years old. She plays the bad girl Ivy in the film, which vividly shows the image of an extremely rebellious girl. The young actors in the film are all 13 and 14 years old. These young people tell people that parents should give adolescent children freedom and trust, and they will gradually mature after a period of rebellion, decadence and absurdity.

At the beginning of the movie, I saw two girls taking drugs together and shouted to hit me! After that, I really hit the other side and bled. The director chose the most provocative scene in the whole film as the opening scene, and then slowly followed the camera to learn about a thirteen-year-old Tracy, a teenager who was mixed with sex, drugs, friendship and betrayal, affection and abandonment, injury and self-harm, loss and redemption.

The whole film adopts hand-held photography, which is very realistic. Maybe some viewers will think that Tracy's fall seems too fast and too easy. But the script is reasonable, at least as a film, it is completely acceptable.

Catherine hardwicke's performance in directing The Pipe for the first time should not be underestimated. But on the whole, it is still an actor's movie. Holly hunter is as excellent as ever, and she won the most honors for this film. The plays written by Nikki Reed and the director are also great. As the first starring role, Evan Rachel Wood performed well and deserved an Oscar nomination.

At the end of the film, when Tracy was disheartened, the film also lost its color. When the mother and daughter woke up, everything returned to its original color. This is the advantage of 13 years old. You may get lost, make mistakes and lose everything, but after the rain, it's over. It's still early, there's still time to do anything.
