[Edit this paragraph] Introduction to the plot
The four elements of nature are: wind, fire, water and earth, and each element has a sacred stone. Together with the fifth element, these four sacred stones were taken away from the earth by an alien, Mondoshawan, in 19 14. 300 years later, in the 23 rd century, the earth is facing a catastrophe: a hot planet will hit the earth. The Mondushawa people returned to the earth with the fifth element and the four elements of the sacred stone to help the earth survive the disaster. Unfortunately, the spacecraft carrying the fifth element was shot down by another kind of alien, Mongolol. People on earth can only get the remnants of the fifth element.
Using the DNA of the remains of the fifth element, the earthlings successfully reconstructed the fifth element: a beautiful red-haired girl, Li Lu Li Lu, ran out of the laboratory and accidentally ran into a taxi driven by Cobain Dallas. Li Lu was chased by the police, and Dallas risked his life to send Li Lu to Father Canarius. Father Ka knows the ins and outs of the fifth element like the back of his hand. He is the contact of Montessori Shawan people on earth, waiting for the fifth element generation to return to earth. Father Ka learned from Li Lu that the four elements of wind, fire, water and earth were not with Li Lu, but were entrusted by the Montessori Shawa people to bring an alien singer to the "Paradise Lost" planet. The priest decided to go to the lost paradise to retrieve four sacred stones.
At the same time, a prominent scum on the earth, Zog, colluded with the Mongaros in an attempt to seize four sacred stones. However, to Zog's great annoyance, Mon Galos brought him only an empty box, instead of the four sacred stones he longed for. At this time, the president of the Earth Federation also learned from Montessori Shawa that four sacred stones had been taken to Paradise Lost, so he ordered a general to send agents to get the sacred stones. The general immediately found Cobain Dallas, a retired special forces colonel, hoping that he could complete the task. Dallas and Li Lu went to the lost paradise on the space shuttle together.
In the lost paradise, Dallas and Li Lu fought fiercely with Mongolos and Zog who heard the news. Finally, Dallas got four sacred stones from an alien singer (strictly speaking, her belly), but Li Lu was also seriously injured. It was less than two hours before the fiery planet hit the earth. Dallas arrived at the Egyptian Five Elements Altar with four sacred stones and Li Lu. Encouraged by Dallas, Lillou finally gathered the strength of the four elements of wind, fire, water and earth at the last minute, stopped the progress of the fiery planet and avoided the coming of the end.

[Edit this paragraph] behind-the-scenes production
highlight
Dazzling stunts, hot and fierce gun battles, magnificent music, funny and rich jokes, etc. Add it up to form this film with great entertainment characteristics. However, there is more than that. What is war? How did it come into being? How can we stop it? Is there only war left in mankind, so it is hopeless? If you watch the whole movie carefully, you will find that these classic topics are actually discussed and demonstrated from beginning to end. Fighting violence with violence will only expand the war, and destroying the fifth element of the fireball-love is a powerful weapon for us to truly avoid extinction. We have not only war, but also love. It is because of love that we have the meaning and value of being saved, and have the belief and dependence of living. It is not difficult to see that film creators have a deep understanding of human society. The ideological realm buried under the excellent light and shadow effect determines that this film is by no means a simple entertainment film. It can be regarded as one of the excellent science fiction movies in the 1990s.
About conception
It can be said that The Fifth Element is the return of director luc besson in the field of sci-fi movies, because his first film is the decisive battle with sci-fi theme. "When I shoot a movie, I want to keep the audience away from their daily life," Besson said. "I would say, let me take you to places you have never been to, places you have only been to in your dreams, such as underground, underwater and space. Out of dreams and escape, I am fascinated by such movies. "
The film title "The Fifth Element" comes from the four elements of the ancient Greek material composition theory: earth, air, water and fire. In the middle ages, the theory of four elements was taken as the theoretical basis of alchemy. Alchemists believe that ordinary metals can be turned into gold by changing the proportion of these four primitive properties in matter. In addition, these four elements together can produce a fifth element, that is, people.
Luc besson conceived this story from the age of 16, when he didn't know the concept of the fifth element. Besson recalled: "At that time, writing was just for fun, in order to escape from daily life and enter this dream world. Unexpectedly, one day, the story gradually developed to 2 or 300 pages. Many years later, I began to think about making this story into a movie. "
It was not until Blue Sea and Blue Sky and Nikita won international acclaim and achieved commercial success that Besson really considered the fifth element. He said, "After filming Nikita, I began to take this story seriously and adapted it into a script. The first draft has 400 pages, and the shooting cost is $65.438+45 billion. However, in the first draft, I was at my wit's end and didn't consider the feasibility at all. I wrote everything I wanted to see, and then I began to think about it. "
After the completion of the third draft, Besson began to revise the script with screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen. They finally decided to divide the story into two parts. "We finished the script, so we can shoot it," Besson explained. "So once there is demand, the sequel script is completed, although it is not planned."
It is also worth mentioning that Besson once said a little-known coincidence: "One day, my father stumbled upon Plato's related works on this subject. He said to me with a book, do you know that your film has been pirated? Let me see. What Plato wrote is strikingly similar to my script. "
In The Fifth Element, Besson put forward a hypothesis: If there is a relative life form in another space, it is not made of vitality, but a dark evil. Besson explained: "vitality is opposite to this evil life form, just like fire and ice." The more vigorous the vitality, the more it will arouse the evil corresponding to anger. "
The 23 rd century in the fifth element. Humans shuttle between planets, spreading this vitality everywhere, making the dark forces more and more uneasy. "Our existence suffocates them, and they want to fight back, destroying all the sources of energy and light, destroying animals, plants and humans. But they exist in another space, and that's the limit, "Besson said.
The most unique feature of the film is to show the future world to the audience. Besson said: "We focus on the history of all mankind to get the most reasonable setting in 2259. The time of the story is very accurate-what will the world be like at 2 am on March 18, 2259? How do people live and think? This is very important for me to create this story because I want the audience to accept the possibility of this real future. "
Thus, in the future world, there will be an ugly Mundushawar representing the power of goodness in the universe, a greedy and cruel Mungaro army led by Zog, the agent of the evil black star earth, and, of course, a brand-new earth that we have never seen before.
About preparation
In order to bring the future world to the big screen, production designer Dan Weil shoulders an arduous mission. As early as 1988, he participated in the filming of luc besson's Blue Sea and Blue Sky. 1993, under the supervision of Weil, a team of top designers and illustrators began a long preparation process, during which they also worked closely with the makeup department and the famous fashion designer Jean-Paul jean paul gaultier. In order to screen this elite production and design team, Besson consulted the works of hundreds of designers. Besides Dan Weil and Jean-Claude Mezieres, a famous French illustrator, Besson took a fancy to seven artists. The whole design process lasted 1 year. When it was finally completed, some people were even a little afraid of this huge project, because it was impossible to implement it at that time.
Besson quickly turned disappointment into motivation. At that time, he was not too cold about black boy. Within 30 days, Besson finished the script. Two months later, the not too cold black boy began to enter the preparatory stage. As we all know, Black Boy Not Too Cold has achieved greater success than Nikita, Besson's reputation in the international film industry has been further enhanced, and Columbia University immediately took a fancy to the shooting plan of The Fifth Element.
Nick Dudman worked as a makeup artist in Batman, Interview with Vampires at Night and Alien 3, and was responsible for making full-size clothes, automatic puppets, alien spacesuits and a large number of organ props. Besson said: "Nick always presents the best to us. What convinces me most is his enthusiasm for work."
The picture of the future city in the film consists of models and digital special effects. The special effects director is Mark Tai Sen, who has made more than 100 films, such as True Lies and Night Interview with Vampires.
Eric serra, who wrote the music for this film, was still a little-known guitarist when he wrote music for Besson's The Last Battle. Since then, the two have been working together. As an important figure in today's French music scene, eric serra brought the 007 series into the 1990s, and his soundtrack, golden eye, became a modern classic in 007 music. In Besson's view, the director is the eye and the film composer is the ear. He worked with Serra for 15 years, and co-produced seven films. Needless to say, there is a tacit understanding between them.
Besson knew Bruce Willis long before he co-produced the film with him. He recalled: "Bruce and I first met five years ago, and since then we have discussed the script together." We always keep in touch. All the shooting funds were in place. After the script was ready, I went to new york and gave it to him. Then I went shopping. I called him back two hours later, and he said, OK, let's shoot. "
About shooting
After a week's shooting in Mauritania, the film was mainly shot in 1996 65438+ 10, and the beautiful scenery in the film was built in 9 studios of London Pine Forest Studio. It is worth mentioning that Besson's directing method, like a photographer, is a habit he developed from early small-budget movies. When shooting, especially close-ups, Besson always appears in the scene, modifying the actor's performance while shooting. "Sometimes I grab the actor by the shoulder and let him move to the position I want," he said. "If this shot is not good, I will talk to the actor directly without shouting' stop'. I don't want to waste the energy of' action' and' cutting' and come back. "
Besson compared this method to surgery: "You can cut someone's chest, put your hand in and massage his heart, and his life can be revived. Anything can happen between calling' action' and' stop', and I won't say' stop' until the actor is tired or breathless. "
Except Gary Oldman, who worked with Besson, other actors were surprised by Besson's zero-distance director. Bruce and ian holm were a little nervous at first, but soon they began to like this way, because they knew that the director was not staring at the monitor from a few yards away, but was with them during the performance.

Cowen Dallas: Yes, it's like the last two news I got. The first one was my wife, who told me that she was leaving. The second one is my lawyer. He told me that he was leaving ... with my wife.
Mr. King: Ah, that's bad luck. Grandfather said it doesn't rain every day. This is good news, I promise. I bet your lunch.

Plato's fifth element:
Plato's cosmology is basically a mathematical cosmology. He imagined that there were two kinds of right-angled triangles at the beginning of the universe, one was half of a square and the other was half of an equilateral triangle. From these triangles, four kinds of regular polyhedrons are reasonably produced, which constitute particles of four elements. Fire particles are regular tetrahedrons, gas particles are regular octahedrons, water particles are regular icosahedrons, and soil particles are cubes. The fifth regular polyhedron is a dodecahedron formed by a regular pentagon, and it is the fifth element that constitutes the matter in the sky, called ether. The whole universe is a sphere, because the sphere is symmetrical and perfect, and any point on the sphere is the same. The universe is also alive and moving, and a soul fills all the spaces. The motion of the universe is circular, because circular motion is the most perfect and does not need hands or feet to push it. The quantities of the four elements in the universe are as follows: the ratio of fire to gas is equal to the ratio of gas to water, and the ratio of water to soil. Everything can be named by a number, which is the proportion of the elements they contain.
About the episode in the film:
The Fifth Element: Beautiful Teana Female Voice ── A classic melody of Tianhou Dance that can't be missed.
I believe everyone has heard of the classic melody of this song. This is an episode of the movie The Fifth Element. The first time I heard this song, I listened to it on my friend's VCD. Unfortunately, I didn't know the title of the song at that time. Later, after several searches, I found out that this song was adapted from the beginning of Donizetti's opera aria "Candle has been lit", and only in the second half of the song was the dance of the goddess interspersed, with a lively rhythm. It was an episode of the Hollywood 1997 sci-fi movie The Fifth Element-The Fifth Element.
I hope you can listen to this song patiently, because it is really a classic melody.
