How to hold the camera steady in practice?

Our camera often needs some support. When the light is dim, even the most sensitive camera will risk blurring the photo because of the long exposure time.

Ask professional photographers when it is best to use a tripod, and they will definitely say "anytime". But it is neither practical nor cost-effective for us. Those small brackets are more suitable for us to use. Let's look at some ways to keep the camera stable.

Simple support

When you need a convenient support, you can lean the camera against the wall, fence or post to get reliable support. When your camera is not supported or the support is not as reliable as you expected, you can consider the following unusual methods.

steamed bun stuffed with sweetened bean paste

I don't want to make a splash when I go out to shoot the night scene. Take a bean bag with you, and you can support the camera in the above way at the shooting location. Bean bags are soft and easy to deform, so you can put the camera on them directly, which is a good support. You can buy bean bags in photographic equipment stores, but you can also use hand-sewn bags filled with dried beans.

Fixing device and camera bracket

If you go out to shoot the sunset or night scene of the city, you will never be too far away from fences, gates, wooden poles and columns, where you can use fixtures or supports. Convenient fixtures can be clamped on the above objects to form a stable bracket on which the camera can be placed. Many pieces of furniture have tripods and the like, and cameras can be placed on them alone. Some fixtures also have the function of a tripod by using screw-in feet hidden in the handle of the fixture.

Mini tripod

Tripods are the best. Those small tripods are not very stable, but most of them can provide relatively stable support when shooting floodlit buildings or when long exposure is needed in dark rooms.

Photographic attention

Before the formal purchase, most photographic equipment stores have all kinds of camera accessories to try out. Go to those places and remember that what you need is a bracket that is easy to carry and use.

It is worth buying a bean bag as backup support. They are very portable and may be the most widely used optional accessories.

If you have no other accessories to choose from, you can put the camera on the table, on the fence or anywhere you can find it.
