Introduction to commercial photography

Lead: As the saying goes, commercial photography, a seemingly difficult professional field, is actually not as difficult as expected. Nelson Tan, a foreign photographer, recently shared five rules for commercial photographers to take orders. I believe that as long as we communicate actively step by step, every photographer who likes photography will have a chance to become a real commercial photographer!

First, understand the customer's expectations and requirements.

The first step to start negotiations with customers is to understand their basic needs and expectations, because you can never know their ideas at once, even the customers themselves are not very clear, so photographers must play a professional role at this time, guide customers to draw up some basic mode schemes, and then check the required shooting time and expenses one by one after discussion, so as to effectively avoid future disputes and maximize the interests of both parties.

Second, understand the purpose of photos.

When discussing the pricing of commercial photography cases, one thing worth discussing is the use of finished photos, such as books, magazines, advertising light boxes, TV movies, online media, or global image advertisements. The advertising methods for these purposes are different, and the price and cost are far from each other. Even the same image concept has different values. Don't let the photographer's rights sleep.

In addition, according to different advertising platforms, there are also very different processing modes. Magazine covers may need to be left blank and subscripted, and large outdoor advertisements may need higher pixels and resolution. These are all important issues that must be clearly communicated with customers in advance.

Third, give a reasonable quotation.

After all the communication and discussion, you can consider your own physical strength, time, transportation and software and hardware costs to evaluate the cost. When quoting to customers, we mainly consider the difficulty of making advertising content, the length of execution time and the time of post-editing. Considering all kinds of costs, we should give our customers a reasonable quotation. After the customer agrees to the quotation, we should carefully confirm the start date and remember that both parties should sign a memorandum of cooperation to protect each other's rights and interests.

Fourth, the early operation and shooting

Prepare necessary hardware and software equipment, at the same time, check the scene, sketch and light. It is best to write down any relevant matters before hellip& amphellip, even if you have to attend classes according to the schedule. This can not only reduce the chances of mistakes and missed shots, but also reassure customers and reduce the pressure index of the other party.

Fifth, select photos and submit them.

During the filming process, many customers will assign representatives to watch on the spot. As the shooting goes on, once customers find photos that meet their expectations, photographers can continue to take a series of photos with similar styles and techniques. When the shooting work is finished, the photo files can be managed centrally on the computer, so that customers can personally select their favorite photos through the screen, and make a detailed list in writing for the final submission program. If customers find any missing or insufficient parts, they also have the opportunity to deal with them on the spot to improve the cooperation efficiency and satisfaction of both parties.
