Olympus: I don't care about making a camera, but the lens is great. Look at my collection of elves.
Although I knew there was an Olympus camera in my early years, I never had an intuitive impression.
The first contact was an old Olympus leather folding camera, which was produced in the 1940s. Later, I learned that the first camera of Olympus manufacturer was born in 1936, which was still relatively early.
Later, I saw someone using Olympus OM- 10 camera, and I didn't take it too seriously. Until one day, I saw a box in a flea market, which contained the focusing screens of more than a dozen SLR cameras. The seller said it was equipped with an Olympus camera.
What kind of camera is Olympus? So many focusing screens, so professional!
So I know Olympus SLR OM- 1 and OM-2.
When I first got OM- 1, I was immediately attracted by its compactness. It's so exquisite!
Not only small, but also good materials. Just like handicrafts, it is comfortable to hold in your hand.
Olympus OM- 1 Camera was born in 1973.
Before it, Olympus produced a M42 SLR with screw lens at 197 1, and the first OM SLR camera at 1972.
The first two models were short-lived, and the output was not large, but the design of OM was successful, and Olympus found the direction and began mass production.
Next, Olympus produced OM- 1, which is widely used in camera matching of various scientific research and medical equipment.
In fact, Olympus is not an optical enterprise focusing on cameras. Its main project is medical equipment, especially microscopes, which are very important in the world. However, Olympus cameras are mainly for supporting equipment and do not need too many advanced functions. Therefore, civilian cameras, especially SLR cameras, never seem to be taken seriously.
Looking back at the Olympus SLR camera now, there are actually not many models.
It began in the 1970s. Although the beautiful and successful OM- 1 is the starting point and cornerstone, there are not many follow-up products, and there are not many improvements and technical pioneers. Even in the end, there was no automatic focusing electronic camera.
If you want to collect Olympus SLR cameras, you should collect them quickly and conveniently.
Among them, the top quasi-professional airframes are: OM- 1, OM-2, OM-3, OM-4, OM-4T; The low-end models are: OM- 10, OM-20, OM-30, OM-40, that's all.
Is it too little and too pitiful?
In fact, the overall gap between Olympus is not big. Olympus OM- 1 can be said to be the first model of a small SLR camera. If influential, Nikon FM, FE, Pentax MX, ME, etc. all have their shadows, but they have not surpassed it in sophistication. Olympus OM- 1 series can be called the myth of compact and exquisite SLR.
Olympus OM- 1 is a camera with mechanical shutter, while OM-2 introduced by 1984 is an electronic shutter camera. Then OM-2 was improved and OM-4 was introduced, mainly adding multi-point metering.
Olympus OM- 1 mechanical shutter camera was upgraded to OM-3 on 1983, and multi-point metering was also added.
So Olympus odd OM- 1 and OM-3 are mechanical shutters, and even OM-2 and OM-4 are electronic shutters.
1986, Olympus improved OM-4 again, mainly upgrading the flash system and metering system, and realizing OM-4Ti.
Since then, Olympus has not done much, and there is almost no idea in the field of SLR.
In fact, these four OM cameras are all great! Unfortunately, later Olympus willfully "lay flat" and did not further develop SLR cameras. Perhaps it is the shift of industrial focus and the decrease of interest in civilian cameras.
The output of these four cameras OM- 1 is the largest, while the output of OM-3 is extremely small, which is worth collecting.
The output of OM-2 is not small, and it is often seen that OM-4 and OM-4Ti are less.
2. Olympus OM lens
I was obsessed with playing old German lenses in my early years, and I also collected some Olympus lenses at that time. There are thirteen kinds of fixed-focus lenses found today (not counting two 50/ 1.4 lenses and one 50/ 1.8 lens on the camera).
These petite elf-like shots of Olympus are really fascinating.
These shots also have
Let me talk about my thirteen Olympus OM fixed-focus lenses, which can be called my "Thirteen Pacific Insurance"!
2 1/3.5 wide-angle lens
24/2.8 wide-angle lens
28/2 wide-angle lens
35/2 wide-angle lens
50/3.5 macro lens
50/2 macro lens
55/ 1.2 connector
85/2 medium focal length lens
90/2 Macro Lens (Peacock Feather)
100/2 portrait lens
100/3.5 medium focal length lens
135/4.5 macro lens
80- 135/4 macro lens (telescopic tube)
Five of the shots are actually macro shots. Why?
This is mainly because Olympus's photographic equipment is not only for civilian use, but also for scientific research and medical treatment, and macro optics and micro optics are Olympus's strengths, so all kinds of focal macro have come out, and other manufacturers really don't play like this.
In addition, six of these lenses are F2 caliber, and Olympus F2 caliber lenses are also called "OM-System F2 Legion". The team has:
2 1/2, 24/2, 28/2, 35/2, 40/2, 50/2macro, 85/2, 90/2macro, 100/2, 180/2, etc. , are all good.
This series is hard for me to find, especially the 180/2 lens, which is the soul of this team.
Among my dozens of shots, Zuiko 90/2 macro is the most famous one, also known as "Peacock Feather", and it is also the best macro shot for Japanese portrait shooting in the early years.
And these three shots, 85/2, 90/2macro, 100/2, are called the Three Musketeers of Olympus, and I have them all.
Olympus OM lens is not only compact, but also exquisitely made, and the focusing damping is very good. It can be said that it is definitely the most sensational in Japanese shots, and Nikon and Canon can't reach it.
Unfortunately, these lenses have not been played seriously after collection.
I was obsessed with Lycra lens in my early years, and then I fell into the occupied area of focal plane. After understanding that photography is actually recording, he began to return to the convenience of using AF lens and directly bought various supporting lenses of Sony Micro-single for quick shooting.
It was not until the epidemic appeared that I couldn't get out that I found that these Japanese shots were left out in the cold for many years.
Seeing this, someone will ask: where is the zoom lens of om port?
I have two 35- 105/3.5 and 35-70/4 in my hand now. I used the first one, which is not bad, but I like the petite and delicate fixed-focus lens, and the zoom lens is a little invisible.
In fact, there is a 35-80/2.8 zoom lens, which is said to be of good quality, but it is rarely seen. I haven't played yet.
If you miss the shot of Olympus 180/2 after writing the article, you will get one at any time. Without it, this team would not be an "army".
