The general requirement of the revised Chinese syllabus for senior high schools in 2000 for the purpose of Chinese teaching is: "On the basis of junior high school, further improve students' correct understanding and application of language and writing, enable students to have modern Chinese reading ability, writing ability and oral communication ability to meet the actual needs ... cultivate the ability to find, explore and solve problems, and lay a good foundation for continuous learning and lifelong development." At the same time, the outline proposes to "further cultivate students' feelings of loving the language and writing of the motherland and the excellent culture of the Chinese nation." Undoubtedly, this is the cornerstone of attaching importance to "ability" and cultural "edification". These guiding ideas are embodied in the specific items of the syllabus.

In the syllabus, it is emphasized to "pay attention to the research of students' thinking methods, the development of students' thinking quality and thinking ability, especially the cultivation of creative thinking". I design this course as a discussion class, which is the principle of following the outline requirements and taking the outline as teaching practice.

Second, the design of teaching materials and teaching objectives:

Hutong Culture is a self-reading text in Unit 3, Book 1, a new textbook published by People's Education Press of senior high school. This article is the preface written by Wang Zengqi, an old writer, for the collection of photographic art "Disappearing Hutong". The author expounds the relationship between residential buildings and civic culture in Beijing. The language is humorous, full of Beijing flavor and very tense. Students should have a strong interest in reading. The teaching goal of this unit is to summarize the main points and refine the essence. According to the above situation, I set the main goal of learning this article as:

1. Summarize the connotation of Hutong culture.

2. Explore the deep reasons of this culture.

3. Discuss the relationship between architecture and culture.
