Who directed the Yellow Land?

Yellow Land is a film directed by Chen Kaige.

The Yellow Land was shot by Zhang Yimou, written by Zhang Ziliang, Michelle and Chen Kaige, and starring Bai Xue, Wang Xueyin and Tanto. 1984 was shown in China, 1985 was shown in Locarno Film Festival, and it was shown in Toronto Film Festival in September of the same year.

The film is adapted from Michelle's novel Echo of the Deep Valley, which tells the story of a young girl, Cui Qiao, escaping from marriage and pursuing her dream under the feudal arranged marriage system in rural areas of northern Shaanxi. 1985 won the Best Photography Award in the 5th China Golden Rooster Award, the Photography Award in the 7th Nantes Three Continents Film Festival and the Yin Bao Award in the 38th Locarno International Film Festival.

Main roles:

Gu Qing, a literary and art worker of the Eighth Route Army, came to a poor place in northern Shaanxi for a tour and lived in Cui Qiaojia. Gu Qing, with the consciousness and mentality of a revolutionary cultural cadre, did not integrate into the life of Cui Qiao's family by carrying water and plowing the fields. They gradually established feelings in their common life.

Cui Qiao is a pure and kind girl, an excellent local folk singer, and her family comes from a poor family in northern Shaanxi. Gu Qing, a literary and art worker of the Eighth Route Army, went through an emotional process from rejection to Emerson, from Emerson to identification, and from identification to love when he broke into family life because of collecting wind.
