What month does the lotus leaf grow?
Lotus usually germinates at the end of March in spring, grows leaves around the beginning of April, and then blooms from June to September. The fruit ripens from September to 10. Lotus leaves are mostly folded into semicircular or fan-shaped, and after unfolding, they look like a round shield, with a diameter of 20~50cm, and are whole or slightly wavy. The upper surface is dark green or yellow-green, rough; The lower surface is grayish brown and smooth, with 2 1~22 thick veins radiating from the center to the periphery, and there are prominent petiole residues in the center.
Lotus leaf is a perennial aquatic plant of Nymphaeaceae, which has roots and likes warm water, so water can't drown it. When the water temperature is not lower than 5℃, the seed lotus begins to germinate at 8~ 10℃, the lotus root whip grows at 14℃, the lotus root accelerates to grow at 23~30℃, and the leaves and pedicels are pulled out to blossom. In the growing period, it needs sufficient sunshine, and it needs to grow in shallow water with a water depth of 50~80 cm and a small flow. Lotus likes to grow in fertile, slightly acidic and organic roots.
Cultivation method of lotus
1, plenty of light
Lotus is a plant that likes sunshine and is suitable for growing in sunny environment. When cultivating lotus, it is necessary to put the plant in a bright environment and let it receive no less than 8 hours of light every day, but in summer, it is necessary to build a sunshade net above the lotus.
2. Scientific fertilization
Lotus needs sufficient nutrients during its growth. When cultivating lotus, fertilize once a month at the peak of plant growth. You can choose rotten cake fertilizer or phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer. After the lotus blooms, you need to spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate on its flowers.
3. Overwintering management
Lotus is not cold-tolerant, and will die when the temperature is lower than 0℃. When cultivating lotus, it is necessary to move the plants indoors at a temperature higher than 0℃ before winter to avoid frostbite, and dig out the poorly growing branches and leaves or lotus roots to make them grow healthily.
