How to set the external flash?

The tutorial of setting up external flash is coming! First, install the flash on the camera, then set the wired and wireless flash shooting settings, automatic flash shooting settings and so on. In wired and wireless flash shooting settings, ordinary flash is set to "off" and wireless flash shooting is set to "slave". If the flash still doesn't flash after setting, it may be broken, caused by poor contact, or not set properly. Next, this article will briefly introduce how to set the external flash and the reason why the external flash does not flash. Let's have a look! First, how to set the external flash?

There will be some subtle differences between different brands. Here, take a camera as an example:

1. First, install the flash on the camera: first loosen the locking ring-slide the flash into the camera socket-tighten the flash in the opposite direction.

2. Settings for wired and wireless flash shooting: The wireless selection button for ordinary flash shooting is set to "Off" and the wireless flash shooting is set to "Slave".

3. Automatic flash shooting setting: First, set the shooting mode of the camera to "program automatic exposure" or "automatic" mode. Then press "Mode" under the flash until "ETTL" is displayed on the screen.

4. Use automatic flash in shooting MODE: first set the camera mode to "TV", "AV" or "M" mode, and then press "Mode" at the flash until "E-TTLII" or "E-TTL" is displayed on the screen.

5. Setting of flash exposure compensation: Press the setting button until the flash exposure compensation icon and compensation amount start flashing-then press the left and right buttons to set compensation amount-and finally press the setting button to confirm.

6. Use flash exposure lock: First set the flash to "ETTL"-aim the center of the viewfinder at the subject-and then press the "FEL" key, if not, press the "*" key.

7. Set synchronization:

(1) High-speed synchronization-Press the high-speed synchronization button until the lightning symbol appears on the screen.

(2) Synchronization of the second curtain-Press the same button until three arrows to the right appear.

8. Zoom key setting: The zoom key is to set the flash coverage. Press the zoom key and then press the left and right buttons of the set key to set the flash coverage.

Second, why does the external flash not flash?

The external flash may not flash because the flash is broken, or the contact is poor, or the setting is incorrect.

Then how can you confirm the reason why the flash doesn't flash? First set the flash to the default:

1. Try all modes, from aperture priority to shutter priority to manual mode. If it flashes, it means that the flash has been turned off in other modes, so find out where the setting is wrong.

2. Clean the hot boots thoroughly, and clean the stains on the hot boots with a small brush, air blowing, rubber and the like, which may be caused by poor contact and inability to TTL communication.

3. Buy an external TTL extension cable and test it on different styles. If one of them flashes, it means there is something wrong with the one that doesn't. Please send it to be repaired. If neither of them flashes, the flash does not support TTL flashing.

Please buy a PC sync line and use it to flash the flash. If the flash still doesn't flash, please send it for repair.
