Common sense of SOS distress signal
SOS is an international distress signal. Generally speaking, repeating three times symbolizes asking for help. According to your own situation and surrounding environmental conditions, you can light three fires, create three thick smoke, make three loud whistles, shout and so on.
1. Fire signal
The international fire signal is to set three fires. The fire is placed in a triangle, and each pile is equally spaced, which is ideal. Keep the fuel dry and light it for help as soon as a plane passes by. Try to make a fire in an open place.
2. Smoke signal
During the day, smoke is in sharp contrast with the surrounding environment and is easy to be found. Adding green grass, leaves, moss or ferns to the fire will produce thick smoke; Wet branches, mats and cushions can be smoked for longer.
3. On-pole signal
A flag or a piece of brightly colored cloth is tied to a stick. When swinging, the long stroke is on the left and the short stroke is on the right, making a figure-eight movement. If the two sides are close, you don't need to do the eight-character action, just draw it briefly, once on the left and once on the right. The former takes a little longer than the latter.
4. Sound signal
If the distance is close, you can shout for help, three short and three long, repeated short; Repeat after an interval of one minute.
Step 5 Reflect the signal
With sunlight and mirrors, you can send out a distress signal. If there is no mirror, you can use a cover, glass, metal sheet, etc. Can be used to reflect light. Continuous reflection will produce a long line and a point, which will attract attention.
6. Information signal
When transferring people in distress, leave some signals for rescuers to find. For example:
Put stones or broken stones in the shape of arrows to indicate the direction.
Support the stick between branches, with the top pointing in the direction of action.
Tie a knot in the middle and upper part of a roll of grass to bend the top to indicate the direction of action.
Put a forked branch on the ground and point it in the direction of action with the forked point.
Make a big pile with pebbles, and put a pebble on the side to indicate the direction of action.
Use an arrow-shaped groove deeper than the trunk to indicate the direction of action.
Two crossed sticks or stones mean that the road is blocked.
Stand or place three stones, sticks or shrubs in parallel to indicate danger or emergency.
