Introduction to the Frankenstein Corps
"Frankenstein's Corps" is an action horror film directed by Richard Raaphorst and starring Karel Roden and Luke Newbery. The film mainly tells the story of a group of officers and soldiers digging graves at the end of World War II, digging out corpses and intending to transport them somewhere. The Nazi army wanted to resurrect Victor Frankenstein's technology and create an undead zombie army.
Plot summary
During World War II, a graduate student at the Moscow Film Academy named Dimitri (played by Alexander Mercury) was fortunate enough to receive an order from the great leader Comrade Stalin to use his skills as a war photographer Identity follows the reconnaissance company led by Novikov (Robert Gwilym) to the front line. His shots record the idle moments of the soldiers and the scenes of fierce battles on the battlefield. Of course, there are also the sinful and bestial sides of these soldiers who have lost their humanity in the baptism of war. In a freezing season, the reconnaissance company received a distress call from the code-named Xionghu 303 squad. Novikov led the team to set off for the remote mining area where the other party was located. Unexpectedly, the scene there shocked everyone. The place was littered with corpses and almost uninhabited, as if it had experienced an extremely tragic battle not long ago. And the terrifying zombies that suddenly appear from time to time threaten the safety of the reconnaissance company.
Movie Review
In general, Frankenstein's Army is a pseudo-visual horror film that works for some people. The reason why it is said to be pseudo-visual is that it does take a liberal approach to limbs and blood. Except for the strange-colored blood that appeared on the ground with the stumps when the young photographer comrade explored the icehouse in the back part, which felt a bit out of place, the other details are still very reliable.
I would like to say that aside from the different perspectives that political memories bring to us, looking at the film itself, what it wants to convey is actually very rich.
The story is actually very simple. It revolves around an anti-human doctor who was psychopathic and advanced in consciousness during that period (I would say he was actually a scientist, a very scientific scientist). He used wartime prisoners, civilians and the corpses of his own soldiers to carry out structural modifications, seemingly using bioelectric research. As a result, these corpses were combined with various steel structures, tools, knives and even small mechanical parts to become "artificial humans". What makes people uncomfortable is that these created things can no longer be said to be "human". There is a description in the movie that is more accurate: "That is a Nazi weapon." Then there was a red warrior who sneaked into the enemy area. After being designed by his own little photographer comrade, he was introduced to the lair of scientists and doctors, and encountered various bloody links. In the end, except for the young man who finally appeared in the pictorial, all other contestants were killed. .
From a visual perspective, viewers can see blood and excitement, and from an aesthetic perspective, they can see the perverted aesthetics of scientists and doctors (to be honest, every artificial human work has a theme and is absolutely personalized. It would be cool to just take it out and make it a mini-BOSS). From a psychological point of view, you can see the helplessness and struggle of being a fish on the chopping board.
Some people hate the little photographer, but the story emphasizes more than once that he is a pitiful figure who was coerced by the motherland with the life and freedom of his parents. He almost succeeded. If he didn't run around after finding Lao Fu's office, he would hide inside and wait for the opportunity to raid. If he hadn't naively wanted to instigate Lao Fu to return to China with him, then his chances would be really great.
