This couplet comes from The Journey to the West's first trip to Wu Cheng'en in the Ming Dynasty: "Spiritual roots and spiritual cultivation". In The Journey to the West, the Monkey King's bridal chamber is called "the land of flowers and fruits, the cave of water curtain cave".

In Taoist mythology, "blessed land and cave in heaven" is the title of famous mountain where immortals and real people live. Although the ancients thought that immortals could ascend to heaven, most of them still lived in famous mountains on the ground.
