Memories of hometown Dalian

Maybe I'm getting older and I like to miss it more and more. It is very happy to have a space to express trivial ideas in words and save them.

I ran away from home from my freshman year and stayed in Guangzhou for 14 years, then my family of three came to live in Australia. Because my mother lived in Guangdong for many years, I didn't go back to Dalian many times. It was not until my mother returned to Dalian to support the elderly that I remembered my hometown again. After leaving my hometown for decades, although I have changed a lot, my unique local accent always makes me feel kind.

Looking through the old photos, I can't find a photo of myself and the landmark building in Dalian, only this photo of my grandmother and her sister cousin (not me at that time), which reminds me in particular. Pay attention to the big birdcage in the background of the photo. Old Dalian people should remember it. The zoo arrived as soon as it entered the door. In the eyes of children, it is super huge.

Dalian Labor Park, Zoo, Tiger Beach, Xiajiahezi, Bangza Island and Children's Park were the most impressive when I was a child. School spring outing also likes to go to these places. The two stone lions in the labor park are my good friends, and I always play under their stomachs.

When I was young, Dalian was a big place. Besides Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, there is also Dalian. Growing up in the province, I found that some people don't know where Dalian is, and there is more than one person. Only then did I know that I was wearing a hometown filter.

I still can't figure out which city Dalian belongs to. It used to be the second line, and sometimes it is divided into new lines. Which lines are not important to me. Anyway, Dalian is the most livable city in the whole Northeast. If we don't consider the problem of making money, Dalian should be at the forefront of the country in terms of living environment alone.

I have lived in Guangzhou and Sydney for more than ten years. To tell the truth, I prefer a smaller city, and it is better to live in a small town or country near the city, so that I can enjoy the resources of a big city when necessary and avoid the congestion and noise of a big city.

Although big cities have many employment opportunities and earn a lot of money, they also spend a lot, especially terrible housing prices. I have little interest in eating, drinking and shopping, and I really don't like to be crowded in crowded places. Especially the traffic, like Sydney where I am now, I am close to anywhere within half an hour's drive, and I haven't run out of Sydney for an hour. Suppose a friend comes to Sydney to meet him. It sounds like a good thing to meet him in the same city, but it is likely that I will have to toss and turn for hours on the road. If I were in a small place, I would have to travel through several cities.

Of course, Dalian is not a small place, and it takes nearly an hour to drive from the city center to the farthest area. I think Dalian is a small city and it is very comfortable to live in. Modern facilities, resources and services are readily available, so it is not so crowded and tired.

The biggest feature of Dalian is its unique geographical environment surrounded by the sea on three sides. It is at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula and the southernmost tip of the whole Northeast.

There are mountains and water, and the scenery has nothing to say. Because it is surrounded by the sea on three sides, the air quality is definitely in the forefront in China, and the blue sky is standard. Although it is located in the northeast, the climate is not bad, with four distinct seasons, not too cold in winter, and heavy snow is not common, let alone heating. It is much more comfortable to stay indoors than in the south. In summer, the sea breeze blows gently, not to mention how cool it is.

In my memory, the most beautiful things in my hometown are the sea and snow. Occasionally there will be a heavy snow, the earth will be covered with snow-white quilts, and there will be a sea. How beautiful! The picture below is a photo taken by a friend. Thank you for lending it.

In terms of humanities, Dalian and Japan face each other across the sea, so there are more exchanges with Japan. In high school, almost half the students studied Japanese. Coupled with the influence of past wars, Dalian has left many impressions on Japan and Russia, including buildings, battlefield fortifications, train lines extending in all directions and so on.

When I was a child, there was an underground passage under the floor of my classmate's house, which connected every household. We also went in to explore the risks. There are batteries and bomb shelters left on the hill next to the primary school. After school, I went to play with my male classmates through the iron fence of the bomb shelter, and was also called to the stage by the teacher to criticize.

The old tram below is still in operation, and I especially like this leisurely feeling:

Russian-style architecture:

The picture below shows the famous Russo-Japanese War Site Lushun 203 Highland. This seaside hill is a battleground for military strategists.

The picture below shows the site of the Qing Dynasty Palace in Lushun, Dalian. Prince Su, known for his kindness, is the tenth direct descendant of the eldest son of Tai Chi in Qing Taizong. He used to be Minister of Civil Affairs of the Qing Government, Commander-in-Chief of the Red Flag of the Han Army and Minister of Military Affairs. 19 12 In February, he fled from Beijing to Lushun and was arranged by the Japanese army in this place that used to be a Russian villa.

I like places and old objects with historical marks. Touch this doorknob and imagine how many people have touched it. Maybe the information field is still there.

Although the high-rise buildings in Dalian are not skyscrapers, they are enough to form a beautiful urban landscape and let you feel the prosperity of modern cities:

Even in cities, roads are not always busy like big cities. Looking at this empty street, you seem to be in a foreign country;

Good places for photography can be seen everywhere. The following picture was taken by my cousin, and I like it very much:

When you arrive in Dalian, you must come to Xinghai Square, where there are sea, city landmarks and sea-crossing bridges. Especially in the summer evening, the sea breeze is blowing gently, which is very pleasant.

The villain in the picture below is my cousin holding my daughter, and the red sunset sets off the silhouette of seagulls, which is so romantic:

Bird food is sold by the sea, attracting flocks of pigeons and seagulls;

Before dawn, you can also explore treasures on nearby rocks:

I always thought the sea would make people open-minded. What's bothering you? As long as you look at the sea as much as possible, you will suddenly realize how small you are and how big your troubles are.

There are also electric amusement facilities at the seaside of Xinghai Square, which are also open in winter:

Below, the little figure in the sunset, or my cousin and daughter, seems to be taken by me? How can I take such a beautiful photo?

Overlooking the night view of Xinghai Square from the high-rise building, it is a bit of a god's perspective. The lighting color of the cross-sea bridge will change constantly:

At a certain time, there was a music fountain in Xinghai Square. Find an open-air bar with a good view, have a drink, chat and look at the fountain ..... It is both urban and quiet.

A bright moon shines in the sky, which contrasts with the circular fountain;

If it is a summer night, this row of beer will be more attractive. Dalian often holds various festivals, such as International Fashion Festival, International Beer Festival and Dalian Art Festival.

People who grew up by the sea have sailed across the sea. Find such a reef and try your luck after the low tide. When I was a child, I could dig clams (flower shells) at random at the seaside and catch crabs and sea urchins of various sizes at a high level. It is also a harvest for children to pick up kelp and sea balls. Once I went swimming at the seaside in spring and touched a sea cucumber. Man next door dug a prawn climb (also called green bristlegrass or Pippi shrimp) in the sand.

Now when it comes to eating seafood, it's like a big meal. It's no exaggeration. We grew up by the sea, so to speak, we grew up eating seafood, and we didn't feel much after eating too much. When I was a child, sea red and clams were piles of table shells, and all kinds of sea fish were the most common things on the table.

People by the sea often hang dried seafood in front and behind their houses like this:

When I was a child, the sea was just outside my grandmother's backyard. I often smash oysters (oysters) on rocks, like the picture below. I broke them open and put them in my mouth to eat. They were salty and fresh. Sometimes I eat it with tortillas. I especially like eating cornmeal cakes made by my grandmother, and often ask my mother for "yellow steamed bread".

Grandma's seaside is like this. It used to be a fishing village, but now it has become an urban area.

Although I don't like cooking myself, I like to visit the local vegetable market when traveling. The more local the better. Like the picture below, the sea goods, earth eggs, fruits and vegetables planted at home feel not only to buy food, but also to feel their own days.

You see, the abalone in the lower left corner has just been fished out of the sea, alive, only five yuan each. I saw it when I visited the morning market in Lushun the year before last. I bought it at once and put it in the refrigerator for my mother to eat slowly.

Speaking of delicious food in my hometown. The picture below should be known to everyone in Dalian.

At the top left is braised pork, which I still often eat. In the winter of primary school, after school, there is a stew shop on the roadside to the station, eating a small bowl of steaming stew, which is warm and enjoyable. There are two kinds of hippocampus in the picture, one is round and the other is long. The long one is to break the tail with a keyhole, suck it on the head and put it in your mouth with a swish. It means the same thing as eating melon seeds. You can't eat much, but you enjoy the process.

Although pancake fruit didn't come from the northeast, it was my favorite when I was a child. It was the night after high school. I bought a pancake fruit at the station. When I was hungry and cold, I thought it was the best in the world.

At the top left of the picture below, there are pancakes in Shandong. I love them too. Who invented this thing? It's amazing. Edible paper is easy to keep.

When it comes to China's stomach, we can't help mentioning sugar-coated haws, which people miss most abroad. Most thin people like to eat sour food. I never leave hawthorn products all the year round. You can't buy candied haws in Australia, so you can only eat hawthorn slices and hawthorn rolls all the time.

I wrote before that in a certain life above me, I should be a rural person, and the objects and buildings in rural China make me feel particularly kind and comfortable. Knowing this, my friend took me to this restaurant full of rural flavor in Northeast China. There is a heatable adobe sleeping platform, but it was booked that day, so I am very satisfied. The log style of the dining table is my favorite natural style.

Look at the boldness of the northeast people, the pot is too big, so fry it directly with a shovel. Seafood hodgepodge, served directly with a shovel, is atmospheric enough. For me, this kind of stew in Northeast China can arouse my appetite more than any exquisite western food and Japanese food.

Of course, in Dalian, you can also eat delicious food from all over the country. I happened to find a unique lane in Qingniwa Bridge.

Very chronological memory: popcorn stove, wheel well, barber;

You can also go to Venice Watertown by the sea and grab something to eat in an open-air restaurant with beautiful scenery:

Venice Watertown in Dalian is definitely a popular place for wedding photography. See the bride in red in the picture below?

Dalian has not only a railway and tram network extending in all directions, but also several new subway lines. It's very considerate to see the following tips in the subway station, and finally consider the difference in temperature requirements between strong men and thin women. I am afraid of the cold. I have to go to the car with the weakest air conditioning.

One day I went to the morning market and passed a bungalow on my way. The old lady was sitting by the road outside the courtyard to enjoy the cool, so I chatted with her. After a while, the old man came back and invited me home. I don't have the courage to go in. I just took a look in the yard. It doesn't matter at first sight, but I found the big sauerkraut jar in my childhood memory. When I was a child, there was an altar of sauerkraut outside my house in winter.

This thing looks a little scary and dirty, but it actually tastes much more authentic, the real northeast Chinese cabbage. The temperature in northern winter is low, and there is no problem of bacterial mildew. Eat at ease. It is an authentic treasure that ordinary people don't serve at home.

There are old people walking, chatting and exercising on the road. I hope I can have such an environment when I am old:

I don't know if I will be lucky enough to go back to my hometown for the elderly in the future. Whether it's falling leaves and being at home all over the world, my hometown will always be the most beautiful scenery in my heart!
